**$25.00 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)**

**The position**:
The role of the Resource Development and Communications Advisor is to raise the profile of the organization through social media, website, newsletter and other avenues and encourage giving through fundraising, grant proposals and donor relations. The position requires working with the
Board Fund Raising Committee and will report to the Executive Director.

**Responsibilities**

**Communications and Stakeholder Relations**
- Advances the mission of Inclusion NS
- Designs, implements, manages and evaluates the annual communications plan in accordance with the Communication and Engagement Strategy
- Ensures assigned activities/tasks indicated in Communication and Engagement Strategy are completed and updates task list as necessary
- Promotes awareness of organization programs and cultivation of stakeholder groups through the arrangement and/or implementation of community presentations (corporate and stakeholder)
- Plans and implements annual social media calendar and other communications
- Completes and submits quarterly report on communications objectives to Executive

Director

**Volunteer Management**
- Supports the effective management and support of fund development for volunteers and co-op students completing Communications placements within organization
- Mobilizes volunteer capacity to meet the identified priorities of the Association
- Ensures appropriate volunteer supports and recognition

**Fund Development**
- Designs, implements, and evaluates strategic fund development plan in partnership with the Board Fund Raising Committee
- Effectively supports the fundraising committee in planning and implementing fundraising activities such as special events, individual giving and obtaining corporate sponsorships.
- Supports Executive Director in grant and other foundation proposal writing
- Oversees prospective identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for funding opportunities
- Develops and manages donor data base
- Ensures appropriate donor recognition

**Other**
- Serves as a member of the Inclusion NS team
- Ensures strong communication and collaborative relationships with Inclusion Nova

Scotia's administration, stakeholders and program departments
- Participates in Inclusion NS and community-based advocacy activities that are consistent with Inclusion NS policies
- Other duties as delegated by the Executive Director

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education (fund development, communications, public relations) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working with people that identify as having an intellectual disability is an asset
- Experience developing and implementing public relations activities.
- Demonstrated strong management capabilities: excellent organizational and time management skills
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills: strong public speaking and presentation abilities
- Minimum 2 years’ experience coordinating fundraising initiatives and working in a fundraising capacity. Demonstrated knowledge of fund development strategies and a

variety of annual fundraising campaign techniques.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills with abilities to work independently and as a team player.
- High degree of initiative and ownership over work
- High level of computer literacy: Excel, Word, Power Point. Experience with Adobe Suite and donor databases are assets
- Experience working with a diverse population
- Demonstrated commitment to Inclusion Nova Scotia's stakeholders or to other not
- for-profit organizations

**Special Conditions of Employment**
- Must have current and valid Criminal Background Check
- Must have driver's license and access to a vehicle
