**The start date will follow the selection process.**

This position is eligible to work remotely on a part-time basis.

**Main Function**:The position is responsible for the complete management, direction, and operation of designated community development initiatives, in support of organizational, departmental, and divisional priorities and quality customer service outcomes. Key member of a staff team providing a one stop resource centre for community groups and volunteers working to support and enhance community vibrancy.

**Characteristic Duties**: Under the general direction of the Manager of Community Initiatives and Partnerships.

1. Facilitate, advise, and support community or organizational groups. Assist volunteers to execute community events or projects. Work in cooperation with Council, Advisory Panels, volunteer groups, organizations and outside agencies in the implementation of programs, initiatives, and services.
2. Liaise within the broader community; recommend action and program innovation to achieve quality customer outcomes in response to performance measurement targets and customer feedback.
3. Provide project, service or program design, coordination, development, implementation, measurement and evaluation for community opportunities and projects.
4. Conduct research and evaluation to support departmental and divisional decision-making.
5. Act as a representative for the division or department on committees as required; organize, promote, and facilitate public meetings, respond to inquiries from councillors, citizens, and others.
6. Facilitate and manage special projects and programs as required. Ensure that the necessary facility bookings, materials, equipment, set-up/take-down are provided; monitor progress, problem solve and prepare reports.
7. Lead, implement and promote strategic priorities of council, educate CGS employees, public partners, residents through community presentations, facilitated group sessions, community surveys and other engagement opportunities.
8. Develop policies, frameworks, strategic documents. and procedures for approval and ensure adherence.
9. Recommend and implement measurements and metrics, including dashboarding, key performance indicators, qualitative surveys, and others, to support consistent and quality departmental and divisional services and programs.
10. Ensure bank deposits are made and appropriate cash handling and inventory controls are established and followed by staff and community groups; ensure public fund financial obligations are managed by volunteer groups.
11. Establish and maintain solid networks with industry partners, community stakeholders and institutions. Organize and attend meetings with government agencies and other community organizations.
12. Communicate and collaborate with other departments and divisions to seek input, build networks, and enhance processes relating to services and work with community organizations and volunteers.
13. Act as lead of the Special Events Advisory Team (SEAT). Work with SEAT to identify and bring forward issues and opportunities related to event policies and procedures and makes recommendations for change.
14. Develop, promote, and maintain volunteer programs including volunteer recruitment, training, and recognition programs.
15. Prepare briefing notes, reports and presentations for council or committees and working groups as required to assist in policy development, or decision-making.
16. Participate in the effective recruitment, training, scheduling, safety, and performance of section employees and volunteers. Supervise and monitor community volunteers; develop and provide training.
18. Enforce CGS’s Risk Management Program and keep appropriate records.
19. Represent CGS in legal actions as required by the City Solicitor.
20. Work evenings and weekends as required.
21. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
22. Perform other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Training**:

- Successful completion of a University Degree in a related discipline (e.g., Business Administration, Commerce and/or Economics, Marketing/Communications, Recreation/Leisure, Social Service or suitable equivalent) from a recognized University with Canadian accreditation.
