**Position Description**

The Learning Research Officer will support ongoing and upcoming projects at Egale Canada within the Learning Team. The Learning Research Officer will primarily assist on day-to-day research and development requests in collaboration with instructional designers. This role involves working within the corporate and school sectors through sourcing material, summarizing, and analyzing findings, and collaborating on curriculum development.

**Primary Duties & Responsibilities**
- 40% Conducting literature reviews and environmental scans on relevant Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Decolonization (EDID) topics relating to the projects they are working on.
- 20% Collaborating with instructional designers on curriculum and content development.
- 20% Writing activities (synthesizing/reporting) and knowledge translation (summaries, analysis reports, and briefs).
- 10% Assisting in the design of learning assessment metrics such as post session surveys and client reports.
- 10% Collaborating with the project teams to create various resources and tools.

**Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**:
An equivalent combination of education, experience and/or lived experience will be considered.

These should be measurable skills such as
- A completed master’s degree in social sciences, humanities, or related field (with preference for degrees in education, sociology, gender studies, or a related discipline).
- Minimum two years of experience in a related field.
- Knowledge and/or experience with community-based research.
- Knowledge of anti-ableist, anti-racist, intersectional, critical research.
- Experience in designing learning materials for classroom and corporate audiences.
- Must have strong writing skills.
- Experience in conducting literature reviews (academic and grey literature).
- Experience with facilitation and/or teaching is considered an asset.

**Knowledge, Abilities and Skills**:

- Knowledge of equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization (EDID) principles, and a strong understanding of anti-racism and anti-oppression framework.
- A strong understanding of, and familiarity with, 2SLGBTQI communities. Must be familiar with research ethics and protocols. Familiarity with the social and structural issues facing 2SLGBTQI people in Canada.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze information, summarize findings and present them in ways easily understandable to decision-makers and to lay audiences.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to set priorities, work independently and perform well under pressure.
- Well-developed problem-solving, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong academic writing, applied reasoning, and analytical skills.
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
