**Evoke Works with Many Types of Students, Including**:

- Those who are struggling academically.
- Individuals diagnosed with learning disabilities, ADHD, ASD, and/or giftedness.

- Learners who require intensive instruction or additional time to process information without feeling stigmatized in the classroom.
- Students who can complete academic work but need to acquire strategies and time management skills to increase their success.
- Students who struggle with self and emotional dysregulation that impacts their academic achievement.

**The Role**:
The academic strategist supports elementary (Grades 4-8) and secondary (Grades 9&10) students using a holistic approach, one-to-one, providing a safe and nurturing support system to help students strengthen their self-regulation and executive functioning skills, optimize their learning experience, and improve their academic performance and overall well-being. The role of an academic learning strategist is to help students identify their strengths, assist them in developing personalized strategies to meet the challenges of academic life, teach emotional regulation skills, and encourage self-reflection. Academic strategists help clients with goal setting, time management, understanding assignments, emotional and self-regulation, reading effectively, studying for tests and exams, and developing writing strategies. The role requires a reliable and professional individual who can work independently and demonstrate excellent judgement, initiative, patience, organization, strong English communication skills, and theory of mind.
- Understand the art of rapport-building and fostering relationships with exceptional students.
- Have hands-on experience implementing emotional regulation and behavioural interventions to enhance academic performance.
- Exhibit exceptional English language skills, both spoken and written, along with a proficiency in grammar and mechanics of writing.
- Hold a practical understanding of research-based academic skills and strategies at both elementary and secondary levels.
- Are well-versed in research-based academic writing strategies, and comprehend the expectations for elementary and secondary-level writing.
- Possess knowledge about elementary and secondary-level research techniques.
- Are equipped with the necessary understanding to support diverse learners, including knowledge about learning disabilities, emotional and self-dysregulation, ADHD, ASD, and executive functions as they pertain to learning.
- Showcase expertise and proficiency in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or delivering programming and curricula to youth and young adults.
- Are comfortable using technology to support learning and access curricula.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and can communicate effectively with a diverse population, including parents, students, teachers, and other professionals.
- Have excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage time, keep track of records, and use objective data to measure mentoring efficacy against established goals.
- Can handle confidential information with discretion and good judgment.
- Are available to commit to a one-year contract.
- Can dedicate a minimum of 8 hours a week, including possible evenings and some weekends.

**Contract Duties and Deliverables Include**:
Preparation and Planning
- Participate in orientation to Evoke materials, and new materials as needed, to ensure understanding of programming.
- Deliver individualized learning plans for students with a broad range of disabilities based on each student’s unique needs, personal and academic goals.
- Co-create personalized SMART goals and action plans for student success by analyzing student performance and identifying barriers to academic success.

Instruction and Learning Support
- Teach students research-informed learning skills and strategies to support study skills, executive function, written expression, and assistive technology use.
- Help students initiate assignments and chunk work.
- Teach study strategies and help students prepare for tests and exams.
