**PREAMBLE**:
This summer position will keep you moving and seeking adventure and activities across the lower mainland for the whole summer. You will be required to work within our risk management guidelines and ensure that those activities that fall outside the lower level of risks have the appropriate insurance coverage. This is an outdoor day camp for students between the ages of 10-15yrs - and will follow through with the planned activities rain or shine. There is a limited budget so being creative will come in handy.

Guiding principle of the camp is to teach life skills to pre-teens and teens while visiting various locations for a multitude of activities across the lower mainland.

**Pre-Camp Responsibilities**:

- Complete the bulk of planning for the entire summer
- Ensure reservation are made when needed. Plan out all routes and activities as thoroughly as possible - from transportation to scheduled activities.
- Prepare and complete all forms and notices for parents and participants
- Provide a leadership component for youth during each week - **this is an integral part of the program and requires collaboration with the Community Youth Worker.**:

- Attend and actively participate all required training
- Assist in the promotion of summer programs utilizing various formats of communication
- Participate in current centre programs when possible to build rapport and encourage youth participation over the summer

**Camp Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the safety, leadership and supervision of pre-teens & teens during summer leadership activities
- Supervise Senior Leader in their supporting role over the summer
- Communicates openly with direct supervisor - providing updates on programs pluses and minus
- Lead age-appropriate activities that are suitable for the group - may need to be flexible if the dynamics of the group change
- Responds to first aid needs and unusual incidents - completing all required forms
- Performs basic administrative tasks such as attendance, critical incident reports, budget totals, first aid forms and end of summer report.
- Maintain positive communication with all centre staff, pre-teens and families
- Follow established centre procedures and protocols to ensure safety for students and staff
- Build positive relationships with pre-teens and their families

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience working with pre-teens & teens is an asset
- Strong leadership and planning skills
- Ability to be flexible in adapting activities to suit individual and group dynamics
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Excellent problem solving skills, communication and interaction skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere
- Successful criminal record check
- Current first aid certificate/CPR certification,
- Food Safe is an asset (not required)
