**School Age Program Supervisor I**

**EMPOWERING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES**

Be part of a great team of educators who encourage and support children’s natural curiosity and learning, and foster diversity and inclusiveness.We are searching for two permanent part-time Program Supervisor to lead a team of school age educators to provide before & after school care, and full-day services during school breaks, to nurture, care and guide 25 - 30 children, in a program rooms, ranging from 5 to 12 years; and to create and maintain a collaborative team environment.**You are able to**:

- Plan, implement, document and evaluate emergent curriculum and activities reflective of individual and group interests and needs of children and families.
- Plan curriculum with a focus on recreation, leadership, arts, sports, social justice, and environmental awareness
- Foster a strong sense of belonging, inclusion and collaboration
- Provide for the health, safety and emotional wellbeing of children
- Build and maintain strong “shared caring” partnerships with families
- Maintain supportive, collaborative relationships with VSOCC colleagues and community partners.

**You will have**:

- Minimum **3 years’ experience working in a licensed childcare program** with school age children.
- Minimum **1 year supervisory experience**:

- Completed course(s), of at least **20 hours** duration, in child development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition
- ** Child Care or Occupational** Level 1 First Aid certification & **Food Safe Basic** certification
- Strong knowledge and awareness of:

- Child development and needs of school age children
- Program planning for school age children. Understanding of BC Early Learning Framework, an asset
- Family engagement strategies and parenting issues within a diverse community
- Knowledge & experience with
- Leadership, supervision, facilitation techniques and team building
- Children with extra support needs, and supports and resources for families
- Child care and its role in schools and community
- Ability to take initiative, work independently and demonstrate good judgment
- Functional computer literacy in Word, Excel and Outlook

**Your additional assets may include**:

- Post-secondary training in School Age Care, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth, Recreation, Education or related fields
- A Second Language

**Terms of Employment**:

- Permanent part-time position, _
**_5 hours/day from Monday to Friday (1:00PM to 6:00PM) during school days and regular 7.5 hour shifts on school closures_**:

- (Pro D Days, Winter, Spring & Summer Breaks)._**Salary**: $28.33/hr plus benefits
- Starting: asap
- Location: Crosstown Elementary
- COVID-19 vaccination required (minimum two does)
