Together with both the volunteer Council for Indigenous Relations (CIR) and organizational leadership, the Indigenous Collaboration Lead will work to broaden and deepen United Way Winnipeg’s collaboration with Indigenous peoples and communities. The Indigenous Collaboration Lead will focus on developing and implementing the CIR’s Strategic Plan - building knowledge, relationships, and equity among and between United Way volunteers, staff, stakeholders, First Nations, Inuit, and Metis communities, and the community at large. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Initiatives, this role will:

- Increase organizational knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis realities through advising, coaching, planning training opportunities, and providing introductory teaching to staff.
- Collaborate with CIR, organizational leadership and UW team members to implement the CIR Strategic Plan and integrate Indigenous collaboration in all aspects of the organization’s work. This includes developing both longer-term strategies and an annual workplan with priorities, goals, and actions.
- Provide leadership and support to relationship building between United Way and First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples and communities.
- Provide guidance to ensure United Way’s work is informed by and relevant to Indigenous peoples and their communities. This includes championing an understanding of, and thoughtful responses to, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice, and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
- Partner with the staff and leadership team leading the development and implementation of United Way’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with Indigenous Collaboration action plan.
- Provide leadership and support to team members in terms of deepening and broadening relationships with First Nations, Inuit, and Metis communities.
- Provide insight and knowledge to deepen the organization’s ability to understand and implement Indigenous Philanthropy approaches

**Qualifications**

You have exceptional interpersonal and communications skills as well as strong engagement competencies demonstrating an open and inclusive approach. You will also have the following qualifications or an equivalent combination:

- Demonstrated knowledge of diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Metis ways of knowing and being.
- Experience working collaboratively to build relationships and understanding with volunteers, a cross-functional staff team, and a diverse network of stakeholders.
- Experience in a strategic and collaborative approach to planning and problem-solving, with the ability to vision, organize and implement plans and evaluate results.
- Knowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles and practices.
- Ability to listen with curiosity and to bring people along with you in growing understanding and changing practices.
- Ability to navigate complexity with strong problem-solving skills.
- A relevant post-secondary degree or diploma in areas such as Indigenous Relations or Community Development is an asset.
- Understanding of Indigenous ways of giving is an asset.
- Ability to communicate in an Indigenous language or in French is an asset.
