Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Regional Lead - Indigenous Health, the Internship & Employment Coordinator
- Indigenous Health, is responsible for the overall coordination of Indigenous recruitment, recognition and retention
throughout Southern Health-Santé Sud. This includes outreach and the development, implementation and evaluation of the
program for the region.

The incumbent exercises a high, level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to
be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the
mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Qualifications:

- Undergraduate degree in social sciences, human resources or helping profession in career development is required
- Completion of certificate program in either business administration or human resources
- A combination of education and experience may be considered

being Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, Inuit)
- Two (2) years previous administration experience and/or knowledge of human resource functions specializing in

Indigenous employment, workforce development, youth engagement strategies and/or career counseling
- Proficiency with computerized information systems including Microsoft based programs
- Strong knowledge of the Indigenous community of Manitoba (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) historical and current

health issues, and areas of employment gaps and needs
- Strong knowledge of the diversity of Indigenous customs, values, beliefs, traditions and practices
- Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous students and communities
- Demonstrated experience with program development, workshop facilitation, and public speaking required
- Experience collaborating with programs and managers to develop job opportunities for participants required
- Experience with resume and curriculum vitae development, interview preparation, job search strategizing, career

exploration, activity and event planning
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills (report writing)
- Demonstrated strategic problem solving, organizational and leadership skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills to guide independent decision-making within scope of position
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive working relationships within a multi-disciplinary environment, including

external agencies
- Demonstrated ability to establish and determine priorities and deadlines, as well as flexibility in adjusting to changing

priorities
- Demonstrated ability to develop policies, positions descriptions and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job
- Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is

required
- Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions

Conditions of Employment:

- Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check

- All Health Care workers are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with Southern

Health-Santé Sud policy.
- Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least

$1,000,000.00
