EDPE 595 Seminar in Special Topics 1

CL Credits: 3 (This course is not team-taught)

Schedule: July 5 - July 13: 9am - Noon, 1:30pm-4:30pm EXCEPT Last Day, 9am - Noon only; No Weekend

Location: McGill, EDUC 434, Québec.

Term: Summer 2023

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQR):
Education- Master’s or PhD in Educational Psychology, Human Development, Learning Sciences, Applied Psychology, Child Development, Clinical Psychology, or equivalent.- A Master’s degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered).- Teaching degree or equivalent, and experience teaching in elementary schools

Experience- Expert knowledge of course content as outlined in the course description.- Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP) and the curriculum of the partnering school board with whom this course is being giving in collaboration.- Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified in the Ministère de l’Éducation.- Experience as a teacher, administrator, or consultant in the partnering school board for which this course is being delivered.- Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary school system.- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers.- Previous successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities.

Other- Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors.- Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start date.Additional Information:

- Please note that, government directives permitting, it is anticipated that most courses will be taught in person. Should government restrictions prohibit in-person teaching, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Course Lecturers will be advised without delay. Course Lecturers may be required to prepare and deliver teaching material suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform (e.g., Zoom, WebEx) and the McGill MyCourses learning management system. Training and assistance on remote teaching is available through Teaching and Learning Services (TLS). Course Lecturers are encouraged to record their lectures._
