BGC Strathcona is excited to offer a youth program, Learn On, where the focus is supporting academics, supports for stages of transition, and engaging with youth in creative ways that supports their well-being.

**Learn On Program Lead - Job Description**

Reporting to the Director of Youth Programs, this position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day supervision and facilitation of the Learn On Program for BGC Strathcona County. This position will also be responsible ensuring the directives and any associated requirements of the Learn On program as directed by the organization. Learn On program lead will represent BGC and will do their utmost to develop and maintain a positive relationship with any staff, school partners, parents, community partners, and community members associated with the organization in any capacity. The Learn On Program Lead will always represent BGC Strathcona County and its interests as an essential part of the leadership team within the organization.

Learn On is an academic support program for youth aged 13 - 21. Learn On aims to bridge systemic inequities in educational attainment, enhance academic opportunities for youth, and support youth as they enter adulthood by providing academic and social supports in Clubs. This program aims to provide academic support encompasses activities that directly and indirectly support youth in finding success in their academic life and graduating high school on time. Transitional supports that assist youth in moving between milestone events in their academic and personal lives. This may include academic transitions between middle school/junior high, high school, CEGEP, alternative academic programs, and post-secondary. This can also include supporting youth as they transition into part-time or full-time employment and supporting each participant social and emotional wellbeing within Learn On program that will support youth’s overall wellness.

**Program Development & Implementation**

1. Implement and facilitate the Learn On grant program. Ensure all program objects are followed and met. All activities must meet the physical, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional needs of participants that attend each program.

2. Contribute to program research and design, implement program directives as assigned by BGC Canada.

3. Submit a final report which will include the same information contained in the quarterly reports, plus the total number and types of volunteers involved in planning and implementation of the program, the total number and types of volunteers involved in providing learning supports to participants, the total number of Elders providing traditional learning to students, and the amount of funding spent on training for staff.

4. Track individual participant attendance and report monthly on cumulative attendance hours _**(minimum 400 cumulative hours of attendance per grant received)**_. Average hours per participant, and average sessions per participant.

5. Report quarterly on progress achieved, including successes, challenges and lessons learned, partnerships developed, strategies used to engage youth, how the program is incorporating the three focus areas, and any perceived impact the program is having on participants.

6. Track and report aggregated demographic information about participants quarterly (I.e., gender; age; education and employment status; BIPOC representation; newcomers to Canada; Official Language Minority Communities; persons with disabilities; persons living in rural, remote, and northern communities; low household income; participants experiencing or at-risk of homelessness; participants in or aging out of care; and participants who are or would be the first in their family to attend post-secondary education).

7. Invite youth to participate in further evaluation activities administered by Employment & Social Development Canada by sharing the link to a survey with program participants.

8. Ensure that all youth programs provide a safe and caring environment, promotes positive child and youth development while providing mentoring opportunities for all children and youth.

9. Work to develop positive relationships with all BGC Strathcona County staff.

10. Deliver Learn On to a youth audience aged 13 - 21 years old.

11. Ensure that youth within your program attend for a cumulative total of 400 hours per grant (I.e., 1 grant = 400 hour, 2 grants = 800 hours, 3 grants = 1200 hours). Program hours are calculated based on the number of youths attending x the number of hours the program is offered. For example: 25 participants x 16 hours of Learn on Programming = 400 program hours.

12. Acknowledge the Government of Canada on the Club website and on any promotional materials developed for Learn On

13. Submit at least 3 high quality photos of your program in action.

14. Implement & facilitate the successful completion of lunch hour-based programs with a minimum of three schools.
