**Legislative Services and FOIPP Coordinator**:
**ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE**
The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is seeking two (2) Permanent Full-Time Legislative Services and FOIPP Coordinators, within the Legislative Services Department.

The RDN is one of 27 regional districts in the Province of British Columbia. Regional Districts across the Province strive to ensure all provincial residents have an effective form of local government, while also representing municipal residents on regional issues.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
Responsible for providing administrative and organizational support to the Board and its Committees. Prepares reports and recommendations to the Manager of Legislative Services for forwarding to the Committee and to the Board. Attends regular and in camera Committee and Board meetings, as required. Manages Committee meetings and provision of parliamentary advice to staff and elected officials. Drafts, finalizes, and reviews bylaws. Monitors and directs the bylaw approval process, including Ministry approvals, ensuring that procedural and legal requirements are met within specified time frames.

Performs the function of the FOI Coordinator and undertakes the compilation, review and severing of documents requested under the _Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act_. Performs the function of the Privacy Management Coordinator and provides guidance to Regional District departments to support their continued participation in the privacy management program. Assists with petitions processes, elector approval processes, and elections acting as the Deputy Chief Election Officer as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Law, or related discipline plus five (5) years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable knowledge of parliamentary procedure, the _Local Government Act_, the _Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act_ and related OIPC rulings, and Records Management practices is required.

Must be results oriented with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, possess strong organization skills, and be able to work well under pressure and manage multiple activities to completion under tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, as are demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.
