The Sustainability Council’s mission is to uplift people and planet. We are doing this by growing a vibrant community engaged in interdisciplinary teaching, learning, research and active citizenship at the University of Alberta. We host speaking events and conferences, develop and promote curricular programs, support research, provide opportunities for student leadership, and spark interest in sustainability issues.

**Position**

Under the direction of the Sustainability Council (SC) Academic Director and the SC Operations Director, the Coordinator - Outreach and Design will actively coordinate and advance all engagement, outreach, communications/marketing, academic support, design, videography, and photography work of the SC. The Coordinator will work on and support Campus as a Living Lab, Sustainability/Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across the curriculum, and all online education opportunities and offerings. The role will also liaise with UAlberta communications staff.

**Duties**

Academic Material Development, Design and Tech Support - 30%
- Support the design and delivery of Sustainability (SUST) courses offered by the Sustainability Council (SC).
- Facilitate and coordinate various elements of online sustainability educational offerings (synchronous and asynchronous).
- Support, coordinate, and execute all relevant activities for advancing experiential learning through the Campus as a Living Lab program.
- Advance and support the integration of sustainability and the SDGs across curriculum.

Writing - 20%
- Write and edit written content for the SC while managing all aspects of this work. This includes a regular SC Newsletter, stories for various media, printed collateral, and promotional content through various channels.
- Execute the role of a liaison or author of institutional, local, national or international feature stories or articles.
- Lead, write and coordinate with SC Operations Director and staff the compilation of a yearly SC Annual Report or any other key documents.
- Coordinate and oversee writing and/or promotional work of SC interns and/or volunteers.

Website and Social Media - 15%
- Manage and create content for all of the SC’s Social Media accounts.
- Maintain, update and continually improve the SC’s website and webpages.
- Measure and report on web and social media metrics and statistics.

Graphic Design, Video Production and Photography - 15%
- Create graphic designs in support of SC programs and initiatives.
- Film and produce feature videos created to support SC programs, related initiatives, or profiles.
- Manage the printing of all print materials, banners, etc.
- Capture or procure inspiring, high quality photography in support of designs, publications, reports, and marketing.

Central Communications - 10%
- Execute the role of primary SC Liaison with Central Communications, Communications Partners at the University, and other communications/marketing staff.
- Lead the integration of Central Communications guidelines into SC communications/marketing.
- Coordinate and execute unit SDG reporting efforts and SDG communications/marketing planning.

Administration, Reporting and Project Support - 10%
- Actively participate in all Team and 1x1 meetings, activities and processes to keep abreast of and implement office-wide activities, priorities and strategy.
