Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

The Office of the Clerk is seeking a strategic, organized and professional individual for the regular full-time position of Communications Officer to support corporate communications for the Legislative Assembly Administration (Assembly).

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Planning and Strategic Initiatives, the Communications Officer (Officer) is a member of the Governance and Corporate Support Team within the Office of the Clerk. As part of the communications team, the Officer is a generalist who provides a range of services and advice in support of the Assembly’s corporate communications strategies and tools. The Officer provides support in a variety of areas - from writing to planning, from traditional to digital communications, from written to digital to graphic content production, and from routine to crisis communications.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Applicants must be/have:

- Post-secondary education in communications or a related program, plus at least one year of professional communication experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience providing expert communications advice on corporate communications matters to senior officials.
- Experience developing communications strategies and plans.
- Experience working with social media platforms.
- Experience developing communications products, including graphics.
- Experience in a parliamentary or public sector environment.
