**About Us**:
The Division of Housing and Ancillary Services is committed to providing a first-class residence experience for over 5,300 Western students while supporting the academic mission of the University and ensuring profitability and cost effectiveness of the operation. We provide thriving residence communities which engage our diverse student population.
**Responsibilities**:
As part of our 24 hour / 7 day staffing model, the Administrative Assistant (Front Desk) provides front line service to students, parents, and guests at one or more of Western's residences. The Administrative Assistant (Front Desk) also works to provide administrative support to the Residence Manager and Client Services Team. The position plays an important role in ensuring all student discipline records are frequently updated and any charges associated with any residence damage are charged to the appropriate individual or group responsible. During the summer, the role will typically be assigned to Western’s Summer Accommodation operation and handle various administrative tasks such as ensuring fees collected throughout the day are accurately recorded as well as assist in assigning summer guests to clean rooms on a daily basis.
**Qualifications**:
- Education:
- 2 year College Diploma, preferably in Office Administration
- Experience:
- 3 years’ customer service experience
- Experience as a Residence Clerk or at a hotel front desk is preferred
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with residents, guests, parents, etc.
- Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Strong customer service skills to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Possesses a reputation of resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
- Ability to work well under pressure and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
- Ability to handle multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
