About the Faculty of Social Sciences
The FSS comprises nine departments, schools and institutes, which offer undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs in both English and French. With its 10,000 students, 260 full-time professors, and wide array of programs and research centres, the Faculty of Social Sciences plays a key role at the heart of the University of Ottawa. Its graduate students are supervised by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty's masters and Ph.D. programs. Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to develop and grow the faculty’s experiential and work-integrated learning (EL/WIL) portfolio with a particular emphasis on building the community engagement and the community service learning (CE/CSL) components, both inside and outside the classroom, and with a further emphasis on international students and other under-represented student groups.
What you will bring:
- Knowledge of business development, account management and partnership development principles normally acquired through an undergraduate university degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.- 5 years of demonstrated experience in a similar role (including related Work Integrated & Experiential Learning and/or marketing experience) or an equivalent combination of education, work experiences.
Other Qualifications:
- Knowledge of university studies, academic programs (both at the undergraduate and graduate levels) and of principles of experiential learning.- Excellent knowledge of the local, national, and international networks/partner organizations and of the principles of community engagement and social accountability.- Ability to build positive relationship with internal and external stakeholders and partners.- Ability to persuade and influence people without a relationship of authority.- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to act tactfully and with diplomacy.- Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing; ease at public speaking and ability to present in both official languages.- Demonstrated ability to relate to and respect students and faculty with diverse backgrounds, experiences and identities in ways that build trust and confidence while meeting their unique needs.- Experience using a CRM.- Demonstrate ability to multitask, prioritize work and meet deadlines.- Ability to work independently to achieve work related goals and ability to work effectively under pressure in a team environment, excellent initiative and autonomy.- Fluently bilingual in French and English (spoken and written).
