The Hospice Day Program and Residential Assistant will work independently with clients or work with the staff and/or volunteers in a group setting. They will assist in activities such as reading, puzzles and crafts. They will assist in the kitchen and also assist the Volunteer Manager in facilitating and planning group activities. Work with other staff and volunteers at the hospice as need with administrative and direct care duties. **This position is WEDNESDAY -SUNDAY 8:30AM-4:30PM**

The position will also function as a reception person, answering and directing phone calls as well as providing information and answering general questions over the phone from the public as appropriate.

The Hospice Day Program and Residential Assistant will also act as a point of contact for assisting residents, visitors, service users, volunteers and other staff members with any questions or concerns. The Hospice Day Program and Residential Assistant is expected to perform all tasks with courtesy and compassion. The Hospice Day Program and Residential Assistant is required to strictly adhere to all protocols as outlined by organization policy, internal Health & Safety and Public Health.

The position is required to back fill in the kitchen area as needed, supporting and working in close collaboration with residential staff communicating meal orders, the timing of meals and understanding the individual needs of residents. While in the kitchen, the position is responsible for maintaining a clean working environment by following established cleaning procedures, schedules and practices.

This exchange can happen orally by speaking, listening and using non-verbal cues, such as body language or in writing. At work, people use communication skills to talk to customers, discuss products with suppliers, explain work procedures to co-workers, participate in virtual sales meetings with clients, and other activities that involve verbal or written exchanges.

**Status**: Contract Full-Time, 35hrs/wk

**Wage**: $15.50/hr

Qualifications:

- Currently enrolled in a Degree/Diploma from recognized university/college in Social Work or another relevant field.
- Between the ages of 15-30 and legally entitled to work in Canada
- Enjoys information management.
- Has a strong commitment to data integrity and is detail oriented.
- Exhibits independent work and decision making skills
- Enjoys being part of a team working towards a collective mission.

Duration of Contract:

- May 8 to September 1, 2023
