- As a Systems Administrator 2, you will be part of a team directly responsible for the operations and maintenance of the City of Calgary's Data Centre. Reporting to the Leader Information Technology in the Operations Division of Information Technology (IT) you play a pivotal role in providing technical support in a 24X7 on-call shift support environment. Primary duties include:
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventative maintenance within the Data Centre environment.
- Manage and monitor raised floor space, power, cooling & cabinet capacity using BMS/Metasys systems.
- Create and maintain layouts of raised floors, cabinets, and rack layouts for Data Centre capacity planning.
- Manage, Support, and maintain Data Centre UPS, PDU, cooling, and fire suppression systems.
- Coordinate with electrical and HVAC consultants for installation and maintenance/repairs.
- Work within our team and assist clients across the corporation.
**Qualifications**
- A completed 2 year diploma in Computer Science (or a related field) with at least 4 years of relevant experience; OR a degree in Computer Science or related with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver's Licence (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a large data centre environment, working directly with UPS's (500 - 700 kW), rack mounted PDU's (Power Distribution Unit), RPP's (Remote Power Panel) and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch), cooling systems (CRAC, CRAHU), emergency power systems, multi-stage fire suppression, Data Centre Fire panels and building management systems.
- 3 to 5 years of hands on operational experience in large (6000 square feet) Data Centres would be considered an asset.
- You demonstrate strong research and analytical skills; an aptitude for problem-solving; the ability to relay highly technical information in an easily understandable way; and proven exemplary customer service.

- Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $44.20 - 59.09 per hour
- Out-of-Schedule Rates: $54.91 - 66.72 per hour. This position is presently paid at an Out-of-Schedule rate to reflect current market conditions. Should market conditions change, the salary may be reviewed and may revert to the base rate.
- Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day work week, with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
