As a Systems Administrator 2 within Information Technology (IT), you will ensure that the infrastructure is installed, provisioned, secured and maintained in accordance with corporate architecture standards and procedures. Primary Duties include:
- Provide support to the Enterprise Service Desk, team members and other support teams.
Participate in incident, problem, and crisis management, configuration management, change management, project management, asset management and document management.
Provide technical support for several projects leveraging the Calgary City Net, including: the Calgary Transit light rail transit (LRT) Optical Transport Network (OTN) Migration, the CCN management tool replacement (NSP implementation), Firewall Lifecycle, and Corporate Switch and Wireless Lifecycle.
- **Qualifications**
***A completed 2 year diploma in Computer Science (or a related field) with at least 4 years of relevant experience; OR
A degree in Computer Science (or a related field) with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver's Licence (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
Recent experience working in a complex internetworking environment is required.
Applicants must have experience working with:
The Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewall platform;
Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Omniswitch switching platform;
The Aruba Networks Wi-Fi platform, and
The Nokia IP/MPLS routing platform (including the 7750 Service Router and 7705 Service Aggregation Router).
Related certifications for these platforms would be an asset.
Knowledge and experience with: BMC Remedy (or a similar IT Service Management Suite); Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor and NetFlow Traffic Analyzer; and Fixed Wireless and Wide Area Network technologies will be considered assets.
You demonstrate strong research and analytical skills; an aptitude for problem-solving; the ability to relay highly technical information in an easily understandable way; and proven exemplary customer service and focus.

- Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $44.20 - $59.09 per hour
- Out-of-Schedule Rates: $54.91 - $66.72 per hour.
- This position is presently paid at an Out-of-Schedule rate
- to reflect current market conditions. Should market conditions change,
- the salary may be reviewed and may revert to the base rate.
- Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
- work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
