**Role**:
We are currently looking for an individual to join Assessment Services Branch of Ministry of Municipal Affairs as a Data Management Analyst

The Data Management Analyst will be responsible for supporting branch initiatives related to the acquisition, managing, manipulation and analysis of data from multiple sources including internal data and calculation systems such as Alberta Linear Property Assessment System, (ALPAS), Centralized Industrial Property Assessment System(CIPAS), Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal System (CAMAlot), Assessment Shared Services Environment (ASSET), Alberta Geospatial Services Platform (AGSP), ArcGIS Online (AGOL), ArcGIS Portal, and external resources such as Alberta Energy Regulator(AER), Land Titles Office(LTO), Canadian Energy Regulator (CER), Alberta Utilities Commission(AUC), Alberta Environment & Parks (AEP), Geomatics Data Management (GDM) etc.

The position is also responsible for maintaining statistical and quality assurance information to senior staff, Ministry decision makers, municipal and industrial stakeholders, taxpayers and other GOA departments and program areas. This is a highly responsible position with significant accountability in terms of delivering rigorous data analyses. It requires proficient analytical, technical and project management skills and is essential to the success of the new Centralized Industrial Property Assessment program area.

**Responsibilities**:
The main responsibilities of this position are (but not limited to):

- Exercising judgement when gathering internal and external data and then converting the data into meaningful information and reports in support of designated industrial property assessment;
- Investigating, analyzing, and solving reported data issues or errors and advising the team on the best course of action to correct the data;
- Fulfilling information requests by querying, filtering, modeling from Oracle tables and views, SAS datasets, Excel and CSV data sources;
- Researching and/or investigating other external sources to validate data reported by stakeholders (knowledge of descriptive and some inferential statistical methods is necessary);
- Providing technical and analytical support for branch initiatives;
- Preparing reports, publications, briefings, and action requests to support the use of evidence in policy development;
- Develop/Maintain/Enhance existing and new reporting initiatives and models required by the business;

Under the mentorship and guidance of the Senior Data Analyst, this position is also expected to provide support and operational depth to existing processes and annual activities within Assessment Services Branch.
The work overseen by this position directly contributes to policy development and senior leadership decision making with respect to regulated industrial assessment and taxation issues.

- University graduation in one of the following disciplines or related fields:

- Statistics, mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Social Sciences with concentration in quantitative analysis.
- Plus, minimum 2 years progressively responsible directly related experience in:

- Quantitative data collection, retrieval and storage, analysis techniques, statistics and methods, predictive analytics, data visualization and information reporting.
- Experience with statistical techniques, statistical and economic modelling, and qualitative research

**Other requirements include**:

- Proficient technical knowledge of database management systems (e.g.: Oracle), SQL, Python, and MS Excel. Base skills in SAS software.
