**Responsibilities**:
**Project Management**
- Provide support in all stages of Capital Projects: design, estimating, tendering; construction progress, and project close-out.
- Monitor capital budgets; provide accurate estimates for the capital works project.
- Support the development of construction specifications.
- Responsible for managing contractors as required.
- Supervise and manage work of Assistant Project Managers. Give guidance to Assistant Project Managers and Interns.
- Overall responsibility for managing the execution of construction projects ranging from 10k
- 1 million.
- Responsible for tendering, evaluating tenders and making recommendations on awards.
- Provide leadership/mentorship.
- Oversea and evaluate the work performance of external consultants and service providers.
- Issue purchase orders for the Capital Assets and Infrastructure Department.
- Monitor costs, review, and approve project invoices, and prepare progress billing.
- Prepare and verify invoices for payment.
- Authorize invoices for payment within the limits as set out in the corporate Procurement Policy.
- Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed projects.
- Review contract documents and supplementary conditions.
- Define project tasks and resource requirements.
- Schedule, assign and delegate work, problem solve, answer questions, and evaluate results of performance.
- Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
- Communicate project status to relevant stakeholders.
- Review contractors work on site to see if it matches project specifications.
- Meet and Collaborate with Contractors, Consultants, City Officials.
- Conduct residential site inspections to record structural defects, take photos and gather information for your follow-up report.
- Take on site measurements of existing buildings interior and exterior.
**Departmental Administration**
- Respond appropriately to inquiries from Property Managers, Consultants, Contractors, and City Officials.
- Ensures projects are delivered within scope, budget, and requirements.
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with clients, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
- Attend Property Review and Board meetings.
**Leadership & Staff Supervision**
- Provide a style of leadership which will generate enthusiasm, credibility, integrity, confidence, and teamwork.
- Conduct or facilitate knowledge-based training and skills development for staff.
- Conduct regular project team meetings incorporating representatives from other departments.
- Complete orientation and onboarding of new employees.
**Qualifications**:
- A post-secondary degree in engineering, project management or related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 - 2 years of relevant work experience related to the duties described above is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic building elements - Civil, Structural, HVAC/Mechanical is preferred.
- Experience in managing construction work.
- Reliable and possess a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Have and maintain a valid and unrestricted Class G license for the class of vehicle operated.
- Have daily access to a reliable vehicle to travel to various locations within Ontario.
**Special Requirements**:
- The position is based at the Head Office located at **155 Queen Street North, Hamilton, Ontario.**:
- Regular hours of employment are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday with work outside of regular hours as driven by project and operational demands.
- This is a hybrid position that will allow for 2-4 days of remote work per week (work-from-home)
- Visit to sites will be required. You will be expected to be on site with less than 24-hour notice.
- Must be bondable and prepared to execute the Bendability Affidavit.
- This position is open only to those legally entitled to work for any employer in Canada.
