Department Overview
The Wealth Management Finance department is accountable for the major financial functions of TDBG’s wealth management business, providing: business planning, financial analysis, measurement, valuation and risk assessment. The Wealth Finance team works closely with the business and TDBG’s centralized financial expertise (e.g. accounting, reporting, taxation) to provide quality expertise and advice to their Wealth Management clients, consistent with overall TDBG’s financial strategy and objectives.
**Job Description**:
Specific responsibilities include:
- Support team in completion of the monthly management reporting packages and design value-added management reporting to provide insightful interpretation of key business drivers underlying the business results; highlight key issues and make appropriate recommendations where required
- Develop and maintain relationships with business / finance partners and other stakeholders and effectively communicate relevant insights in financial results
- Review monthly revenue and expense accruals, statistical entries, and reporting to business users. Provide guidance to team members in the preparation and review of financial results and review of queries.
- Proactively identify expense management and productivity opportunities and recommendations to improve efficiency
- Coordinate with business partners in order to develop the annual plan and quarterly forecasts. Develop key business drivers, prepare the financial plan, assist with plan review with Management. Work with business partners to develop assumptions, communicate issues and summarize results as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain financial models for key business driver analysis and forecasting
- Provide advice and guidance to appropriate stakeholders on a range of financial management issues within the scope of own area (e.g. accounting policies / practices, allocations, regulatory reconciliations / reporting, investor relations, financial control issues etc.).
- Provide finance advisory support to TDAM, responding to ad hoc requests, contributing a finance perspective on business initiatives and ensuring proper finance governance
- Active participation in Finance-wide initiatives and pan-Wealth projects where appropriate
- Actively contribute as a member of the TDAM Finance team and ensure ongoing communication with the broader Wealth Finance team on the status / progress of projects
**Requirements**:
**Specific Qualifications and Skills**:
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
- Management reporting experience, including the ability to evaluate performance on both financial and non-financial measures (such as performance scorecards)
- Highly motivated team player who can take the lead in completing projects and tasks from start to finish
- Strong business acumen, analytical and conceptualization skills and the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain strong attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to work with finance and business partners, and understand & manage the relationships with business partners
- Product knowledge and/or business experience within wealth management or asset management industries would be an asset
**Education and Accreditation**:
- University/College education with a focus on Finance, Accounting, Commerce or Business
- Business and/or accounting designation preferred or working towards designation (CPA/ CFA/MBA)
