Ajah is growing and our business operations are growing with us. We are seeking a Financial Specialist who will join our Operations team, and bring a sharp eye to important aspects of our financial operations. We are looking for someone to help us analyse our financial data, consulting with management to perform financial analysis, develop financial models, and prepare financial forecasts.

This position provides our executives and management effective tools, forecasts, reports and support to ensure that the organisation is running effectively, both in terms of our people and our systems. The position also plays a role in the day to day financial processes of the company, supporting payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and expense processing.

The Financial Specialist reports directly to Ajah’s Chief Operations Officer, offering the opportunity for broad experience across Operations and Finance in a growing company.

**Responsibilities**

The responsibilities of the Financial Specialist fall broadly into three categories.

**Financial Reporting**
- Tracking, analysing and reporting Ajah’s business income.
- Preparing financial reporting statements for Ajah’s Senior Management
- Conducting Short-Term and Long-Term financial forecasting in collaboration with the COO
- Assisting with quarterly and annual tax filings in Canada and the US
- Acting as point of contact for external auditors

**Bookkeeping Tasks**
- Running payroll
- Providing regular finance updates to senior management
- Assisting Accountants in the production of monthly and yearly closings
- Acting as the point of contact for all invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, and collections.
- Processing employee expenses
- Updating data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed

**Operations Support**
- Participating in the onboarding of new hires
- Supporting our approach and processes for employee feedback and professional development
- Helping manage our different systems and SAAS subscriptions
- Identifying areas for business process improvement

**Requirements**:
We want to hear from you if you are:

- Excellent with excel, Xero, and/or Quickbooks.
- Excited to bring a finance-oriented outlook to a growing Operations team
- Passionate about using data and technology to do good
- Comfortable working in English and French

**This is a learning position**:

- the Financial Specialist is expected to learn and incorporate new skills, and advance in the organisation - if successful - to independently lead projects and activities.

**Position type**:Full-time, Permanent

**Location**: Montreal - Hybrid (employees typically work in our Griffintown office 3 days a week)

**Salary range**:$50,000 to $65,000 CAD annual

Expected start date: 2024-03-04

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
