**Training Lead - Real Time Operations**
Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Fraser Vly Office
Employment type: Permanent Region: Lower Mainland
Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid
Annual salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00
**What you'll do**
- The Real Time Operations division within T&D System Operations is implementing a change to its organizational structure.
- The existing consolidated management are being split into two streams: one focused on Generation and Transmission
- (Grid) and one focused on Distribution.
- RTO has faced a quickly evolving system in terms of regulatory compliance requirements, capital growth, increasing
- technological complexity and corporate training requirements. The training requirements have increased exponentially while
- resourcing in the management and administration of training program remained stagnant. To meet these increased
- demands, RTO will need to evolve a coordinated training program to build on the successes of the past and to leverage
- established resources within BC Hydro.
- Provide Management oversite of the entire RTO Operator apprenticeship, load training, grid training, manager training,
existing operator training seminar, system operator NERC continuing education training program.- Coordinate recruitment and hiring of personnel and provide on boarding of new apprentice, load and grid trainees hires.
- Ensure courses are developed following the NERC requirements, role-based competency requirements using
standardized training model.
- Some of the key duties include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate the development of a modular and transferrable training program. Meet the objective of competency-based
program. Use strong project-management skills to coordinate various training initiatives involving managers, vendors and
- program participants.- Coordinate with BC Hydro Learning and Development to leverage established BC Hydro Training resources. Coordinate
training delivery from various trades trainers, professionals.- Objectively analyze current training programs/courses and ensure alignment to the standardized training model.
- Maintain the database of modules, content for training material and prepare annual training plan. Review and update the
contents as required.- Work with the BC Hydro A&TTC to define the deliverables of the apprenticeship and other training program.

training targets and NERC regulatory requirements.- Present department’s work to key stakeholders at all levels and cross business units.
- Foster effective communication and develops positive working relationships between business unit training resources,
Instructional Designers, Trainers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).- Coordinate resources (financial, technical, people) and adapts existing schedules, project timelines and budgets.
- Assess complex short to mid-term financial and operational plans and makes regular functional strategy
recommendations.- Evaluate and track performance of apprentices within established guidelines.
- Ensure that mentorship objectives are defined and being delivered.
- Negotiate and manage service agreements with contractors for development and delivery of training program.
- Assess current and future needs and develop training strategies, policies, standards and processes to accomplish
objectives.

instructional design, training as well as project and people management.
- Technical knowledge of Integrated electrical systems, operation of generation, transmission, sub-transmission and
distribution networks would be an asset.
