Position Summary
Major Job Responsibilities- Performs outdoor grounds-keeping duties such as mowing, trimming, garbage collection, litter pick up, ball diamond grooming and other maintenance tasks on parks, sports fields, open spaces, and boulevards- Operates equipment such as tractors and attachments, one ton dump trucks, truck and trailer, mini loaders, gators, and assorted small engines- Directs, guides and leads other staff assigned to work as part of the crew- Maintains parks and open spaces to a safe and tidy standard and manages time effectively to complete work plans- Represents the Town of Milton in a professional manner and prioritizes customer service- Complies with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health & Safety Act- Perform all other duties in a professional manner as assigned in accordance with Department objectives
Education & Experience- Secondary School Diploma required- Education and experience in turf maintenance and/or skilled trades is considered an asset- Qualified and trained in the operation of vehicles including; tractors with attachments, pickup trucks and 1 ton dump trucks.
Certifications and Designations- Minimum G license is required- DZ license is considered an asset- Current Standard First Aid Certificate/CPR and WHMIS is considered an asset- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Additional Skills- Ability to work outside in inclement weather- Must be able to perform manual labour including lifting over 50 pounds
