**The Opportunity**

The Waste Collection & Diversion Patroller is responsible for the quality control of waste collection programs
and service delivery associated with garbage and divertible materials (such as blue box recycling and
organics) and large article collection in the District of Muskoka. Quality control will be assessed through
conducting on-going, on-site inspections of collection contractors, monitoring daily operations, and conducting
audits to ensure compliance with related contracts and the District’s waste by-laws.

**What you will do: What you will need**:

- Responsible for the field (on-road) monitoring of

contract compliance for waste and divertible material
(such as blue box recycling, organics and leaf and
yard waste) collections as outlined in the District’s
collection contract(s) (curbside, remote bin sites,
Lakeside Collection, etc.).
- Assist in the oversight and monitoring of District

recycling transfer, haulage and processing
operations as per the terms and conditions of related
contract(s), ensuring that service is delivered in
compliance with the contract(s) and materials are
managed in an efficient and responsible manner.
- Provide latest on-road collections information to the

appropriate Solid Waste Management team
members and, working together, collectively ensure
timely and accurate responses to customer service
inquiries and service-related complaints pertaining to
curbside and bin site waste collection.
- Two (2) year community college diploma in

Waste Management or Environmental
Sciences, or equivalent education and related
experience.
- Two (2) years’ experience in a related or

similar job, including contract administration,
residential waste collection, and waste
auditing.
- Strong knowledge of waste management

practices with emphasis on curbside waste
collection, waste collection vehicles,
customer service, and municipal waste by
- law enforcement.

**What we are offering**

This is a** Permanent Full-time** opportunity at the District. The hourly compensation range for this role is
**$27.55 to $30.00** based on a 40-hour work week. The District is also proud to offer the following to our
