**Key Duties**:

- Follow direction as provided by the Foreperson and Superintendent.
- Attend safety tailgate meetings & complete pre-work assessment.
- Prepare jobsites, setting braces to support the sides of excavations by erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris, shoveling, raking and removal of waste materials.
- Perform skilled labour, including shoveling earth and gravel for the continuation and completion of the job at hand.
- Assist with traffic control and spotting for trucks and equipment.
- Inspect equipment/tools and report any concerns or hazards to the foreperson.
- Effectively communicate with operators and other workers.
- Safely operate equipment and use tools, such as cut off saws, as required.
- Hand dig to ensure understanding of locates.
- Set up water pumps and hoses/dewatering of work zone.
- Lift and carry objects from one point to another.
- Setup hoisting and rigging for lifting as needed.
- Mix cement for workers in trench.
- Install/connect pipes, manholes and structures.
- Check grade/slope/alignment and direct excavator.
- Pack gravel around pipe using jumping jack (if required).
- Follow trenching guidelines, and proper procedures to prevent falls and injuries.
- Always wear the proper PPE (which could include rubber boots for wet conditions, hearing protection, safety glasses or full face guard if required) along with your regular PPE.
- Work with and alongside other workers to complete projects with attention to detail to produce a quality product.
- Conduct yourself in a professional and mature manner.

**Requirements/Qualifications**:

- 2-5 years of experience with mainline pipe, Water and sewer service installations is preferred.
- Participate in mandatory training courses such as confined space training, air monitor training, and proper heat stress training.
- Be able to clearly communicate with others.
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.
- Must be able to stand, lift 50 lbs, carry, bend, reach.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

**Work Conditions**:

- Travel to various sites will be required.
- Indoor and outdoor environments; and various weather conditions.
- Weekend and overtime work may be required.
- Wage is commensurate with experience._
