Ma Leadership Writing Coach

The MA Lead Writing Coach supports students in MA Leadership with every stage of their research and writing process via customized one-on-one sessions, workshops, and development of print and media materials. The Writing Coach is embedded in the program curriculum to develop expertise in the discipline, genres, and research specific to MA Lead.

**This position is full-time (36 hours/week), permanent.** The MA Lead coach might work on Langley and/or Richmond campuses. The work is primarily in-person, but some sessions may be offered online.

**Key Areas of Accountability**

Work with MA Lead students at all stages of the writing process, including prewriting, drafting, revision, researching, documentation, and formatting
- Develop expertise on the discipline of leadership and on the specific genres and conventions within
- Plan and facilitate group sessions and workshops on writing topics specific to their courses and discipline
- Communicate with faculty about specific assignments, writing expectations, and formative feedback
- Develop writing resources (print and media)
- Maintain records of sessions and student progress
- Communicate and attend meetings with the team of Writing Coaches
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to coaching, writing pedagogy, and related fields
- Participate in meetings and in the larger work of the Learning Commons

- Experienced in learning and writing at the graduate level
- Research-informed understanding of writing and writing pedagogy
- Ability to scaffold learning and adjust scaffolding as needed
- Desire to come alongside students in their learning journey
- Experienced in multi-lingual and multi-cultural contexts; strong cultural intelligence
- Collaborative
- Comfortable working independently but also team-oriented
- Strong communication skills in English

**Standards & Requirements**

**Education**: Master’s degree in TESOL, Linguistics, English, Education, or related field.

**Experience**: At least one year teaching or coaching writing at the Higher Ed level
