Summary:
Reporting to an Operations Leader and receiving work direction from a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) or other designate
- Provide personal care for patients, including hygiene, grooming, eating, and mobilization assistance.
- Perform delegated nursing tasks like taking temperatures, pulse, respiration, and collecting specimens.
- Observe and document patient behaviors and symptoms according to standard procedures.
- Support a safe environment for patients, noting and reporting significant observations to nursing staff.
- Assist with clerical, stocking, laundry, and other related duties as required by the unit.

What You Bring:
**Education**
Grade 10, plus graduation from a recognized Resident Care Attendant Program and successful completion of an Acute Care Skills Program or three (3) months recent, related experience in an acute care environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
**Skills and Abilities**
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.

**Your Day to Day**:

- Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene based on established care plans.
- Ensure a safe and respectful environment by following care plans and PHC policies.
- Observe, document, and report patient behaviors and symptoms to nursing staff to support care continuity.
- Assist patients with meals by serving, setting up trays, and feeding as needed.
- Perform basic nursing tasks like taking temperatures, pulse, respiration, and collecting specimens.
- Maintain a safe work environment, including tidying patient areas and cleaning as needed.
- Clean and operate patient care equipment, including lifts and personal care items.
- Assist in patient transport using mechanical aids like wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Provide varying levels of patient observation as directed by nursing staff.
- Restock supplies and assist in inventory management for personal, nursing, and housekeeping needs.
