**Position Summary**

This entry-level Program Assistant role is designed to support North York Community House's community development work, with a special emphasis on digital, online, and media activities that facilitate civic engagement. The role involves aiding in the development and execution of outreach strategies, supporting community capacity building, and assisting in the coordination of various civic engagement initiatives.

**Main Tasks & Responsibilities**:
**Outreach and Engagement**
- Support the development and implementation of outreach strategies to engage residents and staff in capacity-building opportunities.
- Utilize social media tools and develop online/digital content for effective program outreach and engagement.
- Participate in online or in-person community network meetings to understand and address challenges faced by residents, particularly during the pandemic.

**Event Coordination**
- Aid in all logístical aspects for the smooth operation of capacity-building workshop sessions and activities, including space setup and cleanup.
- Work with agency staff and community partners to implement online workshops and events, adhering to health and safety requirements.

**Partnership and Team Support**
- Support partnerships with relevant organizations for information sharing, project promotion, and exploring potential future initiatives.
- Provide support to resident leaders and volunteers.
- Promote a collaborative environment conducive to teamwork, possibility, and social change.

**Administrative and Evaluative Duties**
- Update and maintain program records, client files, and service information.
- Conduct program evaluations, analyze data, and produce reports.
- Attend agency and community meetings, keeping records of meeting minutes.
- Participate in program debriefs and team meetings as required.

**Planning & Program Delivery**
- Assist in planning and executing engagement activities related to neighbourhood planning and leadership opportunities in specific communities.
- Contribute to the development of Community Asset Mapping learning series and local capacity building opportunities.
- Other duties as required to support the Civic Engagement Team and new initiatives.

**Required Qualifications**:
**Education**
- A Diploma or Degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of experience and educational background.

**Skills and Qualifications**
- A keen interest in community development, civic engagement, and digital media.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and support community-based initiatives.
- Good organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in using digital and social media tools.
- Entry-level position; prior experience in community work or civic engagement is a plus but not required.

**Other Requirements**:

- Typically works regular hours from 9:00am to 5:00pm (with some flexibility), with occasional evening/weekend work, and some travel required within the GTA. Responsible for carrying/caring for a laptop and cell phone.
- A successful clearance of criminal record verification will be required when necessary for the position.
