Curve Lake, Canada Curve Lake First Nation Full time

The purposes of this position are:

- To oversee programs, financials and staff in all areas of economic development, including Tourism, Cultural Centre, Employment Resource Centre and Commercial Buildings
- To deliver the economic development and tourism programs in accordance with funding agency requirements
- To facilitate and promote community, economic development and tourism in order to secure opportunities to increase wealth and job opportunities for the First Nation

**DUTIES**:
The duties and responsibilities of this position are categorized into seven main functions:

- Facilitate community and economic development programs
- Identifying and fostering community economic development opportunities.
- Community growth and beautification opportunities, signage, for example.
- Provides input into the budgeting process.
- Identify opportunities for community economic development projects and initiatives.
- Develop partnerships within the community to develop and promote opportunities.
- Assist local organizations, businesses and individuals to take advantage of economic development opportunities and projects.
- Assist with the development of job creation projects.
- Tourism Planning and Asset Development
- Action the items brought forward from the Tourism Feasibility Study
- Build relationships with tourism businesses in the area that offer Indigenous content relative to the Culture of Curve Lake First Nation
- Build and maintain relationships with key personal at regional tourism organizations
- Research related to the local, regional, provincial and federal tourism industry
- Package and promotion of tourism assets
- Secure funding for activities and programs
- Research private and public sector economic development funding opportunities.
- Consult with industry and government representatives concerning eligibility requirements for funding.
- Prepare proposals for funding to support community economic development.
- Oversee staff within the Economic Development and Culture Departments
- Monitor attendance and work, assign duties and report back to the Economic Development Coordinator
- Assist with workplan development
- Mentor staff as needed
- Business Start-up Services
- Promoting entrepreneurship as a career option
- Assisting members who are considering entrepreneurship as a career
- Providing access to information and research as it pertains to starting a business
- Small business financials
- Assisting is accessing small business funding
- Other
- Performs such other related duties as may reasonably be required by the Economic Development Coordinator.

**QUALIFICATIONS: (APPLICANTS MUST SHOW NECESSARY PROOF WITH APPLICATION OR WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SCREENED OUT)**

**EDUCATION**:
The incumbent to this position will meet the minimum requirements that include:

- A Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Economics, Business Administration, Commerce or Public Administration, or Professional Aboriginal Economic Developer Certification, or Equivalent experience amounting to three (3) years’ experience in Economic Development, with a proven record of success
- Knowledge of the Economic Development Department and Cultural services of the Curve Lake First Nation
- Comprehensive computer software knowledge including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database and electronic mail software
