**Executive Chef Job Description**

Trybe (tribe) meals is a healthy food delivery service. We cook a variety of healthy meals from tribes around the world.

We cook and deliver one week of multicultural meals that provide an uninterrupted supply of healthy meals to help our clients with weight loss, muscle building, and also cater to clients with dietary restrictions.

**We're now hiring an Executive Chef - We're interested in working with an experienced chef who is willing and able to lead a young team and take charge of key weekly operations such as menu formulation & scheduling, inventory management & procurement, food presentation, portioning & quality control as well as other processes that need improvement in the new business.**

**We will appreciate a vibrant & intelligent chef to work 10-20 hours a week. Must be available to work on Fridays and Saturdays. We currently prep and cook 300 - 500 healthy meals every Friday and Saturday for delivery.**

**Responsibilities for Executive Chef**
- Ability to prepare delicious and healthy cost efficient meals
- Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
- Document cooking and packing process and share with all team members using Microsoft Word or an online platform.
- Oversee purchasing to stay within weekly budget. Price conscious - find and shop great & seasonal deals
- Oversee the production of 500 + meals with a team of 5-7 or more people as the business grows
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
- Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs and cooks
- Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
- Document a supplier, ingredient cost per meal, calorie information, food history, cooking and packaging procedures for new menu items
- Introduce new and exciting menus based seasonality
- Knowledgeable of healthy recipes and ingredients - this is not a fast food company.
- Can prepare vegetarian and plant based alternatives
- Ability to identify fresh ingredients
- Ensure all food safety regulations are follows
- Be aware of new culinary trends and recipes

**Calm under pressure**

During take out rush hour periods and bulk cooking on the weekends, the kitchen can get quite hectic. The kitchen staff needs to remain calm to prepare food safely and successfully. Most kitchen accidents happen when people are rushing to complete orders.

**Fine motor skills**

As a chef, you need to be able to quickly chop, slice, dice and peel food. Food needs to be consistently prepared and portioned for the best results.

**Meal presentation**

At trybe, our meals are sold fresh or refrigerated. All meals need to be presented similarly to how they are displayed online. When people pay a lot of money for their meals, they will expect them to be beautifully prepared.

**Good memory**

As a chef, you're going to need a good memory when working in a restaurant. You'll need to remember recipes and specific orders. When orders pile up, there will be little time to look at cookbooks.

**Organized**

To have the most efficient kitchen, all food items, dishes, tools and cutlery need to be well organized. Kitchen staff need to know how to safely organize food items to avoid cross-contamination.

**Sanitary**

Every location has a set of health codes. The kitchen staff must understand and comply with them to keep customers happy and safe from food-borne illnesses.

**Quick decision-making**

Oftentimes, chefs need to make quick decisions since the kitchen is such a fast-paced workplace.

**Collaborative**

The kitchen is a collaborative environment, so employees need to work well with others. It is important to give and receive orders politely, even during hectic times.
