Birla Carbon Canada Ltd in Hamilton, Ontario is looking to expand their Operations Department. We are seeking Utility and Bead Operators for our plant who can demonstrate our organizational values of integrity, commitment, passion, seamlessness and speed.

**Responsibilities**:
**UTILITY OPERATOR
- Re-processing of non-standard product through a continuous process procedure.
- Check and inspect tank levels
- Check belts, dryers, conveyors, screens, motors and gear boxes to ensure safe flow of customer product
- Clean screens, conveyors, magnets, dryers, slabs and product spills
- Obtain and delivery in-line product samples to the lab
- Complete required check list
- Follow lockout/tag out procedures
- Perform other duties as required.

**BEAD TECHNICIAN
- Pelletizes product grades to specification by monitoring recording charts and instrumentation and adjusting dryer temperatures, vapour fans, oven temperatures, gas flow, tail gas flow, binder temperatures and flow, water flow, and product flow (from dense tanks into bead machines) to SOP conditions
- Collects and delivers to lab wet-bead product samples to verify product quality.
- Completes and documents all required checklists daily logs and lab results
- Ensures maximum (operational) efficiency of beading equipment, beading rates and product flow by inspecting, checking, and adjusting, as required, dense tanks (levels), agitators, bead machines, dutch ovens, dryers, conveyors and binder and water pumps, valves, strainers, and flow lines as per specification and product grade.
- Performs all required duties safely, efficiently and within required housekeeping, safety and environmental standards.
- Performs, as required, the duties of Utility Operator and other relevant duties as required

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in an Engineering Technician program is considered an asset.
- Forklift and Confined Space certification considered an asset. Training will be provided
- Experience in a manufacturing or continuous process environment is considered an asset
- Commitment to safety and the environment.
- Ability to work in a team oriented environment.
- Ability to take the initiative and to complete assigned tasks on time.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Highly flexible, proactive and self-motivated.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, troubleshooting skills, and ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work in confined spaces

**Work Conditions/Schedule**:

- Able to operate basic mechanical tools safety and efficiently.
- Able to work in outdoor weather conditions and ability to climb several flights of stairs (work at heights) on a regular basis.
- Continental rotating shift work (ie, 2, 2, 3); including alternating weekends, nights (2-weeks days/2-weeks nights) and holidays.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Overtime as required
