**Job Purpose**
Since May 2016 PAQ’s transitional housing program provides intervention and accompaniment to
sixteen residents. The goals of the transition program are to prevent homelessness and to assist First
Nations, Inuit and Metis women and men to achieve greater stability, and work towards medium and
long-term personal goals. The program aims to create a safe environment where residents can learn
important life skills to live autonomously, and access resources necessary for their individual
development, healing, and wellbeing. Emphasis is placed on activities that encourage participants to
contribute to the development of a healthy and safe community.

Reporting to the Housing Manager, the Transition Housing Coordinator accompanies residents and
oversees the smooth functioning of the transition housing program and facilities. The Coordinator
supervises the Transition housing Intervention Worker. He or she is responsible for the development
and implementation of programs and activities that respond to the needs of residents. Collaborating

with the Finance and Operations Manager, the Transition Housing Coordinator ensures the cost

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Coordinate the transition housing program: promotion, recruitment, selection, orientation,
intervention, accompaniment, development of program policies and regulations and compiance,
referrals, etc.
- Provide case management and wholistic and culturally adapted psychosocial support to sixteen
(16) residents, including budget support.
- Connect residents to health care, community services and resources, providing accompaniment
when necessary.
- Build and maintain a network of community partners, particularly for referrals and recruitment
from other programs.
- Produce statistics and reports for the transition housing program.
- Manage the transitional housing finances (including rent collection)
- Represent PAQ at external fora and meetings related to housing.
- Carry out program evaluation
- Provide occasional front-line back-up intervention on the floor at the PAQ shelter.
- Provide support to interview and hiring processes of front-line intervention workers.
- Participate in trainings and meetings with the intervention team.
- Participate in regular coordination and programme team meetings.

**Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the shelter or social housing systems; this can include front-line
experience
- Minimum 1 year program or project coordination experience, preferably in a social services
setting, and including responsibility for implementation, planning and budgeting, financial
management and reporting, and evaluation
- Team management or supervisory experience is a significant asset
- Knowledge and in-depth understanding and experience of Indigenous cultures and traditions
- Language requirements: fluent in English or French and able to work effectively in the second
language; an Indigenous language is an asset
- Experience in trauma-informed crisis intervention approaches
- Good organizational and financial management skills
- Sense of initiative and creativity
- Ability to communicate well with team members and use a collaborative approach

**Required Academic or Other Qualifications**
- DEC or bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the areas of social work, social services,
intervention, or another related field.
- Occasion travel within the city,
- Flexible daytime hours

**Contract**:Full-Time Permanent (35hr/ week)

**Location**:Downtown Montréal at the PAQ main shelter and transitional housing. Some travel is required in the downtown area. This is an on-site role and cannot be carried out remotely.

**Compensation and benefits, before deductions**:

- $27/hour
- 4% vacation + one supplemental week (total 3 weeks)
- 10 personal or sick days
