PAQ is an Indigenous organization that accompanies First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples facing housing insecurity in Tio’tià: ke / Montréal. Using a culturally adapted approach based on empowerment and harm reduction, we offer shelter, housing options and services that promote well-being and healing, and strengthen community. We work in partnership to advocate for the health and housing rights of urban Indigenous Peoples.
**Job Purpose**:
Reporting to the Housing Manager, the Weekend Housing Coordinator works closely with other service coordinators to develop and support permanent housing solutions for PAQ community members. They provide hands-on coordination and support to two key PAQ permanent housing options: 1) Projet Logement Montréal (off-site housing), and 2) PAQ housing programs (on-site housing). The Weenkend Housing Coordinator also plays a front-line intervention role, offering psycho-social support to First Nations, Metis and Inuit women and men living in PAQ housing programs. Finally, the person in this role works closely with the Housing Manager to supervise and mentor PAQ’s housing intervention team.
**Responsibilities**:
**Direct Intervention**
- Establish a bond of trust with residents using a culturally adapted approach. Foster the creation of a safe and welcoming community
- Meet regularly to support the residents of PAQ housing programs to develop abilities and skills required to live autonomously in supportive housing
- Promote a healthy lifestyle and provide counselling and intervention support and follow-up on immediate and longer-term goals such as housing, health care, employment, finances and other basic needs. Design intervention plans with residents tailored to their individual needs and that meet their objectives; provide support and encouragement to residents to implement their plans
- Support intervention workers to provide crisis management on mental health issues, and conjugal and other forms of violence
- Encourage residents to develop within PAQ’s community, performing mediation, when necessary, between residents
- Ensure compliance with PAQ housing policies and protocols by residents
- Build knowledge and networks of other partner services, programs, and resources to support referrals, and follow-up
- Maintain clinical case files
**Building Management**
- Support in ensuring cost-effective management of PAQ housing programs
**PAQ housing programs coordination**
- Develop and update PAQ housing programs criterias, tools, policies and protocols
- Update and manage statistics and produce monthly activity reports
- Oversee on-site security staff at PAQ House
- Represent PAQ on relevant external committee when requested
**Intervention Team**
- Provide intervention support and coaching to the intervention team (approx. 10%-15% time on the floor)
- Produce the intervention team schedule and approve bi-weekly time sheets for staff
- Coordinate and track all HR-related matters for intervention workers
- Recruit PAQ housing programs intervention workers and other staff

**Qualifications**:
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the impact of intergenerational trauma and on-going realities in Indigenous communities, housing barriers, and Indigenous social issues
- 3 years’ experience working in social housing; at least 1 year in a coordination or administration role
- 2 years’ intervention/social work experience, preferably with Indigenous peoples or within a social housing context
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Public Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Practical knowledge of, and direct experience with, OMHM/PSL programs and processes
- In-depth knowledge of community and governmental services in the areas of housing, health and justice in Montréal
- Conversational French and English; solid writing skills in at least one; knowledge of an Indigenous language, an asset
- Experience in building management an asset
- Ability to motivate and to inspire others to participate and engage
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Experience in mediation and or cooperative living
- Current first-aid certificate, an asset
**Contract**:
Part-time, temporary
Non-unionized position
**Schedule**:
28 hours per week
- Thursday 5:30 pm - 11:30 pm
- Friday 5:30 pm - 11:30 pm
- Saturday 10 am - 6 pm
- Sunday 10 am - 6 pm
**Location**:
The employee will be required to travel to all PAQ housing program sites.
