Job Summary

A Brief Overview

A major component of the role is coordination of Science Rendezvous Kingston, Science Literacy Week, and Science Odyssey. Working with the Science Rendezvous Event Director, the incumbent will support the planning, promotion, implementation, and measurement of these local and national events, on behalf of both internal and external parties.

The schedule for this position will require the incumbent to work outside normal business hours, such as evenings and/or weekends. The job may occasionally require travel overnight, when conferences and other special events are outside Kingston, adjusting weekly work hours to meet program needs.

This position provides support for key and/or high-profile events including overall event planning and designs, location logistics, event schedule, and event messaging. This position oversees event budgets and timelines. This position develops, implements and executes marketing strategies and plans related to event engagement. This position provides guidance and coordinates workflow of casuals, volunteers, and/or external contractors.

**Job Description**:
What you will do
Provides support for key and/or high-profile events including overall event planning and designs, location logistics, event schedule, and event messaging.

Oversees event budgets and timelines.

Develops, implements and executes marketing strategies and plans that incorporate key messages and priorities.

Identifies audiences, tactics, messaging and methods of evaluation to ensure communications activities support objectives.

Identifies new event opportunities that address emerging trends.

Monitors, recommends and implements enhancements to event processes and systems.

Provides guidance and coordinates workflow of casuals, volunteers, and/or external contractors.
Coordinates communications, including preparing proposals, letters, event materials, and other documents.

Develops written content for print and digital communication on a variety of topics.

Engages with key audiences through a variety of social media channels and creates content for posts.

Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit. Required Education
Three-year Community College Diploma or Three-Year Bachelor Degree, or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields. Required Experience
More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
Experience developing, coordinating and producing promotional and marketing material considered an asset. and

Experience developing and managing marketing plans considered an asset. and

Experience in writing, interviewing, reviewing, editing and/or proofreading internal and/or external communications and documents considered an asset (e.g., social media, policy manuals, newsletters, handbooks, legal documents, forms/templates, blogs, training/reference materials, technical documents, webinars, etc.). and

Experience planning, coordinating and/or managing events or promotions considered an asset. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Knowledge and Requirements
Knowledge of concepts and principles in a specialist field that is typically acquired through a combination of advanced professional or academic qualifications and/or substantial work experience.
