**Your role**

CBC News is seeking a senior manager to oversee the operational capabilities of CBC News streaming channels and manage the team that programs CBC News Explore and local streaming.

Accountable for the performance of streaming channels, you execute strategies in streaming aligned with the wider CBC News focus on better discoverability and consumption of live and on-demand video across CBC platforms and off platform.. You analyze and interpret data to create action plans and counsel senior leaders.

You’re a skilled multitasker and creative problem-solver who is unfazed by technical challenges and structural inertia. In line with our focus on reaching audiences in connected TV, mobile, social and video platforms, you’re constantly finding new and innovative ways to improve their experience and inspire others to do the same.

This cross-functional role requires exceptional communication skills and deep collaboration across CBC/Radio-Canada, including close relationships with Operations, Technology and Infrastructure, Product, Media Presentation and Gem, and a background in news.

Reporting to the senior director of digital publishing and streaming (with a dotted line to the national director of development and production), this is a permanent, full-time position, based in Toronto.

**Job responsibilities**
- Maintain the operational capabilities of CBC News streaming channels and distribution through O&O platforms with the aim to meet CBC News goals for video.
- Manage core streaming operations, including staffing, scheduling and planning.
- Plans, assigns, manages the work of others within scope.
- Execute content and channel strategies in streaming, aligned with the wider CBC News video and streaming strategy in live and on demand.
- Oversee scheduling, branding, and discovery for CBC News streaming content and channels, in both O&O and new distribution end points. Accountable for performance.
- Collaborate on content strategy, branding and production with CBC News Studios development and production teams.
- Act as main strategic liaison between CBC News and CBC Gem.
- Analyze and interpret various data points to create reports and make recommendations to CBC News leaders.
- Plan and develop audience navigation, discoverability and interstitials in collaboration with content teams.
- Lead committees to assess content performance and streaming or program opportunities.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders (Media Presentation, CBC News Social, Marketing and Communications among others) on behalf of all streaming content to ensure smooth outputs and amplify the channel and related content.
- Communicate the performance and strategy of the streaming channels to the CBC News division leadership.
- Ensure best practices are shared, and programming and channel practices throughout CBC News are aligned and consistent to audiences.
- Communicate technical requirements to stakeholders.
- Assist in creating and updating best practices for on-demand video publishing on Explore, Gem, YouTube and other distribution platforms.
- Minimum 7 years experience managing teams and taking new product/content from launch to operation.
- Minimum 10 years experience in a media organization.
- Deep understanding of streaming news content.
- Proven ability to work cross departmentally in order to accomplish goals
- Proven ability to solve complex problems through working collaboratively
- Aptitude with managing both technical and editorial content challenges
- Familiarity with social media & video content production.
- Deep understanding of metadata and SEO.
- Demonstrable leadership skills and experience to inspire and direct staff during periods of significant change.
- Demonstrated experience in providing feedback to teams including producers, associate producers and other content creators.
