If you’re a journalist with a passion for audio news, two of Canada’s most-listened-to newscasts are looking for a talented and experienced producer.
- World Report_, where every morning hundreds of thousands of Canadians begin their day, and The World This Hour, the CBC’s only every-hour news service, are hiring. The producer will split their time, working three early mornings with _World Report _(Friday, Saturday, Sunday). The other two shifts cover the afternoon run of _The World This Hour _(Monday, Tuesday).

Key Tasks:
- Conceives and develops program ideas and content- Develops program content including researching, writing and editing copy- Works with reporters filing to the program, including assisting with the gathering of audio elements, vetting scripts and preparing audio for air- Supervise the work of others who contribute to the program or segment being overseen by the Senior Producer- Edits and mixes, or directs the editing and mixing of audio and/or visual elements- Exercises editorial responsibility as delegated by Management- University degree or equivalent- Minimum of five years of experience producing audio and video content in a journalistic setting- Experience pitching and producing stories and translating those ideas into on-air segments- Deep knowledge of the Canadian and international news landscape- Ability to use a variety of software tools such as iNews and Dalet or similar audio or video editing software- Track record of creativity and innovation with a strong attention to detail- Demonstrated expertise with chasing, writing and vetting for broadcast- Demonstrated ability to write host scripts, capturing a conversational tone- Demonstrated ability to use audio material creatively and write to it with flair- Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines- Independent and self-motivated journalist who also thrives in a team environment- Demonstrates a deep understanding and appreciation of the different cultures, opinions and experiences that make up contemporary Canada (including new, diverse, younger audiences)- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices- Must be available to work early mornings and on weekends
