**The Opportunity**

We are currently seeking an **Operational Excellence Technical Specialist **to join **Operational Excellence **team in **Sudbury**. This is a 12 month **Fixed-term **position.

The Operational Excellence Technical Specialist will participate in the development of VPS Technical standards, processes, routines, and tools within Base Metals, ensuring they are implemented and deployed in a manner which maximizes business results. In addition, the Senior Specialist will identify key Business Improvement opportunities in conjunction with our operations and engineering partners and subsequently lead cross-functional, problem-solving sessions to identify root causes using VPS problem solving strategies (Methods, Leadership and Technical).

Additionally, in this position you will
- Identify and act on synergies between the different disciplines (Methods, Leadership, Technical) to enable an effective deployment of VPS standards and principles within the Base Metals business.
- Deploy VPS technical implementation strategies developed by the VPS leader, focusing on maximizing results while balancing the needs of the specific areas with the broader business requirements and taking into account the effort required.
- Facilitate and coordinate the implementation of VPS Technical principles, standards and tools through the definition of area specific change management plans
- Act as the Base Metals Subject Matter Expert as it relates to Vale Normative Standards (Elements 7and 8, and be familiar with elements 4, 5 and 16)
- Provide opportunities to integrate and advance safety initiatives across Base Metals
- Implement routines for checking compliance in the field with the Maintenance and Operation Processes established in the PNRs (2nd line checks) in the Base Metals management plans
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional problem-solving sessions to identify opportunities for improvement, challenging the status quo while ensuring best practices across Base Metals are shared and replicated
- Provide technical expertise and support to the operations as part of the help chain, escalating to other technical areas as required
- Provide recommendations of KPIs and associated targets for operations, ensuring standardization across Base Metals
- Act as a coach to develop and advance personnel knowledge and understanding of the VPS Technical elements

**About You**

Education**:

- Undergraduate degree is required

Skills and Experience:

- 8-10 years of relevant experience
- Previous exposure to industrial safety systems and routines
- Knowledge of VPS
- Knowledge of Automotive Manufacturing principles
- Underground Mining Maintenance and Operations experience
