**We are looking for a Supervisor, Conservation and Technical Services**.

As a **Supervisor, Conservation and Technical Services**, you will be responsible for overseeing the activities of conservation and technical staff, and supervising contractors, interns, and volunteers; providing advice on the care and preservation and preparation of museum artifacts and archival collections; overseeing the effective operations of the CWM conservation and technical services facilities; providing advice for all technical aspects relating to conservation and exhibit display preparation; assisting in establishing operational budgets and ensures accurate reporting on project costs; participating in the annual work planning process; developing contacts and networks within the conservation community to further the preservation strategies of the CWM and to promote CWM conservation and technical services activities in fulfillment of Museum mandate; performing other related duties as required.

**Minimum of Five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant experience in**:

- Handling museum artifacts/works of art;
- Creating and verifying cost estimates for artifact preparation, mount-making, exhibitory fabrication and installations of museum exhibition projects
- Organizing and maintaining conservation labs, equipment and related materials;
- Estimating and monitoring costs for the treatment and preservation of artifacts;
- Evaluating design drawings, facilities reports and other documents, in order to contribute technical details for purposes of conservation;
- Writing and managing contracts for external conservation services;
- The preparation and presentation of reports, lectures and seminars relating to artifact conservation;
- Working with the following software: word processing (Word), spreadsheet (Excel), and E-mail (Outlook).

**Knowledge of**:

- General Museology principles and practices;
- Museum artifact preparation, mount-making and installations of artifacts in a museum exhibition setting;
- Museum exhibition development and production processes as well as installation strategies, within a variety of museum venues
- Specific requirements for packing and transportation of museum artifacts;
- Collections storage principles and practices;
- The scientific theories, principles, current techniques and related materials for the treatment and preservation of museum artifacts and of the principles and practices for artifact preparation and collections maintenance;
- Museum exhibition development processes;
- Museological practices in the care of collections;
- The safe use of related tools and equipment and laboratory products;
- Human and financial resources principles and practices.

**Education**:Masters degree in Conservation or Museum Studies or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Membership to a professional conservation association is an asset.

**Compensation**: E7 ( $82,026 to $101,513)
