**Job Summary**:
Location: On-site, National Gallery of Canada, 380, Sussex Drive, Ottawa

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Exhibition Services, the Supervisor - Fabrication, oversees and manages all aspects of risk management, project management, and resource management for the fabrication, packing, transportation needs and production, gallery-wide, in support of the NGC exhibitions, Collection management, loans out and acquisitions programming.

The Supervisor provides structure and develops operational procedures and tools to ensure the efficient and reliable tracking and management of high-risk exposure areas for fabrication, transportation and packing.

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary diploma in Museum Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- 5 years experience in managing projects and/or personnel;
- 3 years experience handling, installing and packing works of art in all media and sizes, manually and using handling equipment.
- 3 years experience in a commercial woodshop;
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, interpersonal skills and sound judgement;
- Experience in constructing and packing transportation and storage containers and crates for works of art in all media and sizes. This work to be done to conservation standards;
- Understanding of basic and technical 2D drawings and capable of translating them in 3D;
- Extensive knowledge and skills in the methods, materials, equipment and techniques generally used for handling, installing, packing and transporting works of art;
- Knowledge of the conservation standards for these materials and activities;
- Ability to safely handle large, heavy fragile works of art manually in excess of 45KG.

**Condition of Employment**:

- Must meet the bilingual requirement to be invited to the interview process.
- Reliability Status - this factor is not used at the pre-selection stage.
