**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Corporate Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of staff in MDRD.The Ajax Site Supervisor MDRD, identifies operational and service issues, resolves staff issues and escalates as appropriate to the manager. This position entails the development and maintenance of quality control tools for reprocessing in all areas of Lakeridge Health, in accorandance with CSA standards and Lakeridge Health policies and procedures, in collaboration with the Corporate Manager, MDRD. The supervisor will provide support for MDRD staff by acting as a resource, providing education and training in quality assurance procedures and infection control policies and procedures, safety training and mandatory hospital training. This position will be responsible for the ordering and replacement of equipment.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Supervision of staff in MDRD and Endoscopy Primarily at Ajax, and all Lakeridge Health sites;
- Prepares and posts work assignments for staff;
- Determines priority of assignments, alters work assignments as necessary;
- Assists with the orientation and introduction of staff to all areas of MDRD;
- Preceptor to all students from college for placement;
- Ensures the timely processing of equipment and supplies necessary to support the operation of internal departments (i.e. operating rooms, nursing units, endoscopy emerg, labour and delivery.)
- Monitors all equipment for daily performance, reports problems to Engineering Services and the Manager;
- Takes initiative and plans and implements daily activities with mínimal direction;
- Performs Quality Assurance audits and creates weekly and monthly reports, including visual reports on quality improvement boards;
- Assists in the development of department strategies, goals and objectives;
- Provides assurance of quality by adhering to CSA standards, best practices for MDRD operations and specific LH policies and procedures;
- Liaison with Surgical OR Manager, OR Patient Care Specialist and Perioperative Material/Environmental Manager;
- Identifies needs for instruments/devices inventory and ensures communication to Perioperative/Environmental Manager;
- Coordinate linen inventory for MDRD with Linen Manager;
- Input all direct orders and follow through with purchasing department as needed;
- Verifies accuracy of direct orders;
- Updates MSDS books as well as the Wellnet electronic record for WHMIS; and
- Maintain records for processing parameters for new and existing equipment and instruments.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Grade XII education required;
- Certificate (Central Service Techniques Course), College Equivalent or University Degree;
- Minimum of five years' experience in a MDRD
- Must have knowledge in all aspects of decontamination, assembly, sterilization, equipment, and case cart system;
- Required to have independent judgment and decision making skills with the ability to prioritize the workload;
- Previous experience in leadership role or leadership education preferred;
- Previous Leadership experience in a unionized setting;
- Demonstrated effective team building and interpersonal skills;
- Proven excellent communication skills;
- Evidence of continuing education;
- Management, MDRD Management, or leadership courses;
- Knowlege of: MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point, OR Manager, E-Req, SAP, Meditec, CSA, Standards, PIDAC, WHMIS, and Wellnet;
- Proven ability to work with all levels of hospital staff, physicians, managers and vendors;
- Ability to demonstrate professional, effective communication style;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships;
- Perform competent inspections of Medical/Surgical equipment;
- Assess equipment damage and report findings to allow for action planning;
- Must have satisfactory performance record;
