As an Accounting Specialist, you will not only play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of our financial records, but also contribute to the strategic decision-making process by providing insights drawn from your meticulous analyses.

**Accountabilities**
- Oversees the expense reconciliation and invoicing for monthly advertising and promotion, advertising fund and direct cost expenses.
- Prepares monthly fruit loss claims, supporting with report conversion, claim uploads and troubleshooting within the Zespri Claims Portal as needed.
- Reconciles all Zespri Open items in addition to preparing purchase documents, submitting weekly wire payments, and accruing for seasonal Canadian purchases, ensuring all Zespri billings are reconciled in Optimo system reports with clear audit trails.
- Tracks all Zespri sales and commissions and creates journal entry adjustments upon meeting revenue tiers.
- Monitors the Grower Settlement Console to ensure timely and accurate grower settlements, escalating issues to relevant departments to facilitate prompt resolution and assisting the Grower Accountant team with inquiries that might delay settlement finalization where needed.
- Leads Zespri audits by preparing and submitting applicable reports, providing samples and clarifying auditor queries.
- Directs the Season-end Revenue Reconciliation process, consolidating purchases, claims, and sales in a comprehensive format to reconcile balances between Oppy and Zespri.
- Serves as a liaison between various Oppy departments, including Finance, Sales, Operations, Manufacturing & Warehouse, Inventory, and Category Management; identifying and bridging communication gaps to ensure efficient fulfillment of all Zespri requirements.
- Collaborates with key Zespri contacts within Zespri International Ltd and New Zealand Kiwi Holdings to address and fulfill ad hoc requests related to reporting, billing, and purchases.
- Assists other grower accounting team members with training and development, proactively contributing to building bench strength and knowledge within the department.

**Required Knowledge & Abilities**
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, analyzing large data sets and functions including VLOOKUP, IF, COUNTIF, OR, AND, SUM, INDEX, LOOKUP, GETPIVOTDATA), working knowledge of Word and Outlook.
- Knowledge of USDA regulations and other produce-related industry regulations and standards in both Canada and the US is an asset.
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to problem solve and make appropriate accounting recommendations and decisions.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication (written & verbal) and customer service skills; ability to work effective
