The department of Health is seeking a Systems Analyst to support the Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Post-secondary education in health information management or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Experience developing and maintaining documentation to support data systems such as workflows, standard operating protocols, database change records and data quality reports.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to evaluate and appropriately classify information.
- Ability to independently identify areas for improvement and propose solutions to methods, systems and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively as part of a high functioning team
- Strong verbal communication skills to professionally convey information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills to accurately document work procedures and processes.
- Ability to identify priorities and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency with MS Office programs including Word, Outlook, Excel and Access.

**Desired**:

- Knowledge of The Public Health Act and Reporting of Diseases and Conditions Regulations.
- Experience training and coaching staff.

**Duties**:
The Systems Analyst develops and maintains surveillance process documentation by continuously observing public health data collection and entry processes. The incumbent researches, proposes and implements innovative solutions to improve productivity and processes to meet strategic goals of the unit that relate to the improvement of data quality and reliability, timely reporting, and production of surveillance reports to support public health planning and response. This position liaises with key stakeholders and organizes training for new and existing unit staff.
