Production Supervisor
**Summary**:
Responsible for supervising and managing veneer and plywood production; provides effective leadership and assistance in regards to accomplishing the department goals and objectives; ensures all equipment is in good working condition and applies all applicable safety precautions; performs duties in an efficient and profitable manner that promotes safety and superior employee relations.
**Essential Functions**:
- Responsible for personnel functions, such as: interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, development, supervision, delegations, evaluations and disciplinary actions; will perform these functions in a timely manner.
- Supervises activities of the green end/or dry end departments; directs workflow and break times; prepares work schedules and ensures training requirements are met.
- Responsible for the physical inventories
- Ensures the safety and welfare of all assigned staff; adheres to, and enforces, all established safety standards, ensuring compliance with company and government safety policies and procedures,
- Uses, and enforces the use of, all required safety precautions, including use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Ensure that production and quality targets are met by each employee in every area of the mill on a daily basis. This includes directing the priorities for the maintenance and personnel on your shift.
- Ensuring all costs is minimized, including raw materials, overtime, consumables, waste management and energy usage.
- Ensure all required documentation for production and quality are complete and accurate.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Minimum Qualifications)**:
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience, preferably in veneer and plywood manufacturing.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency in Windows based programs.
- Ability to effectively lead, motivate and develop employees.
- Must have good communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Must have strong safety program knowledge and experience
- First Aid certified or ability to obtain certification through employer.
- Must possess a current and valid Ontario License
- Must possess a current and valid forklift certification or ability to be acquired through employer
- Must possess a current and valid CPR/First Aid certification.
- Ability to work various hours and be on-call 24 hours, 7days/week
**Physical Demands / Work Environment**:
- Manual and finger dexterity as required to perform daily job duties.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push and/or pull more than 100 pounds.
- Ability to frequently walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to frequently sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to frequently bend, squat and/or stoop.
- Ability to frequently reach, climb and/or crawl.
- Frequently works near or around moving mechanical parts.
