**ROLE SUMMARY**
The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the inbound, outbound and warehousing of production materials, finished goods and returns. This includes establishing and maintaining suitable international carrier relationships, and completing import and export processes and procedures for all manufacturing locations. This role also provides recommendations to optimize packaging materials and quantities for economic transportation optimization, and monitors SLAs to ensure on-time fulfillment and logistics costs are adequately managed. This role oversees planning, arranging and organizing the shipping of materials between Alberta Factory and Quasar Factory by air, ocean and courier. This position manages a small team but also supports the team by providing hands-on assistance in shipping and receiving packages.
**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Recruit, interview, hire and train new staff in the department
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department
- Demonstrate leadership with professionalism and respect for others, and foster interdepartmental collaboration and understanding
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations, training and coaching as necessary
- Handle discipline of employees in accordance with company policy
- Direct department activities, through team members, for smooth, efficient and cost effective logistics coordination
**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**
- Ship goods and materials using the appropriate carrier (Fedex/DHL/UPS, etc): 1. Pick goods 2. Process shipments in Acumatica 3. Complete customs documentation 4. Prepare documents in carrier’s system 5. Properly pack the materials to ensure the contents are not damaged in transit
- Coordinate and monitor outgoing and incoming shipments moving by Air/Ocean/Truck - Deal with customs clearance and customs issues
- Coordinate incoming inventory: 1. Distribution of inventory to customers 2. Material transfers
- Keep track of current inventory - Work collaboratively with purchasing, planning and sales to ensure inventory levels are well maintained
- Regularly review incoterms, international customs requirements and fulfillment methods to ensure the company is operating in the most efficient manner in compliance with international laws and expectations
- Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, fill rates, customer SLA metrics, transport costs and resource efficiency. Highlight cost increases or opportunities to reduce costs as necessary
- Works closely with Quasar Factory to ensure their transportation and logistics decisions are inline with the overall strategy and the company is realizing economies of scale through provider relationships and managing its duty and tax implications as efficiently as possible
- Have a strong understanding of our B2B and B2C business to reduce sales friction and respond to customer feedback to implement appropriate changes
- Establish and maintain relationships with carriers and brokers in order to optimize contract terms and work together to smoothly resolve transportation and customs issues
- Attend meetings with various departments
- Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field
- 5+ years shipping and receiving experience, with some of that including supervisory experience
- Experience in moving freight via air/ocean/land, LCL, FCL, Air, LTL and FTL
- An understanding of importing and exporting finished goods and raw materials (and the rules and regulations surrounding import/export)
- Experience coordinating customs clearance (or using a broker to do this)
- Ability to lead and manage a small team
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- A good understanding of analytical tools i.e. Spreadsheets, ERP reporting
