**Position summary**

The Cropping systems program, Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional science, University of Alberta, is currently seeking some self-motivated individuals to fill two summer research positions.

**Duties**

The summer assistants will be required to work mainly at the Edmonton and St. Albert Research Stations. The following are some of the activities the assistants will be involved with:

- Help with seed preparation for establishing field trials (weighing seed sub-samples)
- Help seed crop field experiments by both hand and seeders pulled by a tractor
- Help control weeds by hand and using tractor mounted implements (rotary-cultivator)
- Assist on field data collection i.e. plant counts, plant heights, etc.
- Assist harvesting field crop experiments by hand and combine, sample biomass

In these positions it will be required to work in the evenings and weekends during seeding and harvesting time.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- High school diploma; should be a current U of A student
- No experience is required
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast paced team environment
- Demonstrate excellent problem solving skills
- Must have a class 5 (No GDL) driver license with a clean driving records.
