About the Role:
AGF Investments seek a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources Team. Reporting to the Manager, Payroll and Benefits, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and processing the full-cycle payroll process and administering various benefits programs in accordance with established company practices and procedures for approximately 600 employees across Canada, US and Dublin.

Key Responsibilities:

- Administer bi-weekly salary and hourly Canadian and USA payrolls of 500+ employees, including accurate and timely processing (hires, changes, terminations, timecard maintenance, bonus and other special payments), and reconciling and distribution payroll reports and data
- Administer investments and retirement savings programs - bi-weekly contributions, enrollments, changes, terminations and applicable annual returns
- Administer group benefits programs - enrollments, orientation, changes, terminations and administration of benefit billing
- Responsible for the reconciliation and filing of all payroll and benefits related remittances such as EHT, WCB, T4s, T4A, Releve 1, W-2s, 1099, T2200s benefit reconciliations etc. and processing applicable payments, cheques and EFTs
- Assist year-end processing and reporting for T4, T4A, Releve 1, T2200s, taxable benefits, garnishee, EHT, CSST
- Support year-end processing and reconciliation of payroll filings and returns - Federal, Provincial and State
- Support the planning and execution of annual compensation related changes and payout, including annual incentive payments, salary changes, bonus allocation to RRSP, Healthcare Spending Account allocations, etc.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc reporting
- Support leaves and absences, including Maternity, Parental, Short-term and Long-term Disability
- Respond to queries from employees and other internal clients, as applicable
- Work closely with members of the HR team on any employee and project initiatives
- Continuous learning through NPI and other courses (annual legislative updates, seminars, etc.)
- Identify process improvement opportunities and documenting current work processes and workflow
- Assist projects and special initiatives as required

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of hands-on progressive full-cycle payroll experience with multiple provinces, jurisdictions and business entities. USA Payroll experience is an asset
- Experience with financial industry, share-based compensation and commission payments is considered an asset
- ADP WorkForce Now (WFN) or equivalent system experience eg. Ceridian DayForce is required
- Strong working knowledge of payroll-related tax legislation and employment standards (payroll source deductions, EHT, statutory holidays, overtime etc.)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically in Word and Excel, including V-lookups and PIVOT tables and formulas
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with capability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills; meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrated professionalism when dealing with confidential and sensitive information
- Strong team player and customer service orientation
- Experience with Workday HCM (HRIS) or equivalent experience e.g. SuccessFactors, Ceridian DayForce, is an asset
- Benefits administration experience required
- PCP designation from the National Payroll Institute (NPI) required
- University degree or College diploma required
