**THE ROLE**:
We are looking for an exceptional Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our fast-paced, dynamic, and thriving People & Culture team, and significantly impact our organization's success.

As Payroll & Benefits Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our comprehensive Payroll and Benefits strategy. Reporting directly to the Director of Total Rewards & Analytics, you will lead the way in benefits administration and ensure the seamless management and processing of our bi-weekly payroll operations.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**:

- Oversee the full payroll cycle for multiple entities for about 400 employees. This will include the review and validation of payroll balances and tax remittances per legislative requirements before processing payments to ensure pay is administered accurately and on time.
- Prepare and audit the bi-weekly journal entries and ensure they are accurately charged to the proper GL accounts and submitted to finance.
- Lead all payroll-related month/year-end accounting accruals, reconciliations, journal entries, and filings including pension adjustments, T4, T4A, ROE, and government remittances.
- Prepare, coordinate, and reconcile the monthly/quarterly/yearly end procedures for T4s.
- Maintain the benefits portal and provide recommendations for improvements on the company’s benefits programs.
- Prepare monthly reports for billing relating to intercompany salaries.
- Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of employee data, including new hires, terminations, title changes, salary adjustments, and manager changes, and adhering to all payroll timelines through ADP WorkForce Now and maintaining data integrity.
- Review all mid-pay adjustments and ensure the accuracy of timesheets including overtime hours.
- Administer the Employee Unit Purchase Plan (EUPP), Group RRSP, and Stock Option Plan.
- Assist the People & Culture and Finance teams in the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Act as the first point of contact for all payroll and benefits inquiries.
- Liaison with People & Culture, employees, supervisors, government agencies, and internal and external auditors.
- Support fostering a culture of continuous improvement, enhanced controls, and data integrity.

**WHAT YOU BRING**:

- Extensive related experience within a large to mid-size computerized payroll environment.
- Strong Payroll Accounting skills primarily as it relates to the G/L reconciliation process.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Accounting, or a related area.
- Completion of Canadian Payroll Association certification (PCP) or higher is a strong asset.

**WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL**:

- Analytical mindset with Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills. Thorough working knowledge of ADP is a plus.
- Excellent service orientation with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage and work closely with a variety of internal teams as a trusted partner.
- Strong team player who is action-orientated and proactive with a high degree of initiative; you bring an owner’s mentality to your work and can demonstrate resourcefulness.
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail with excellent time management skills to coordinate multiple, competing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
