**Position purpose**

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Financial Resources, plans, directs, organizes and monitors financial, accounting and accountability operations for research, trust and endowment funds for the entire University. Provides leadership in designing and implementing policies and procedures and offers professional assistance to researchers and decentralized administrators in the faculties and services.

Ensures service excellence with respect to preparing and sending all financial reports for research, trust and endowment funds at the University.

**In this role you will**:

- Plans and leads the financial, accounting and accountability operations related to research, trust and endowment activities in order to respond to funding agency reporting requirements and to mitigate related risks.
- When the incumbent learns of problems involving research, trust or endowment funds, recommends innovative, actionable solutions to faculties, researchers, the associate vice-president, research and senior managers.
- Ensures good communication between Financial Resources and the entire University community (faculties, services and researchers), so that the management of Research, Trust and Endowment section activities is consistent and rigorous.
- Participates in preparing the University’s annual audited financial statements.
- Compiles the Research, Trust and Endowment section reports in accordance with accounting standards and the report’s’ respective guidelines.
- Ensures compliance with Policy 111 on endowment funds and enforces strict standards with respect to the integrity and accuracy of endowment funds, given their nature.
- Provides leadership in managing endowed funds and the usable funding they generate in order to respond to the University’s financial aid requirements while ensuring the long-term viability of the endowment funds.
- Designs, reviews and promotes financial policies and procedures related to trusts and research activities to ensure that funding agency requirements are accurately met. Submits recommendations to senior management to ensure that research and trust activities operate smoothly and are managed correctly.

**What you will bring**:

- University degree in accounting or business administration combined with accounting certification (CPA)
- Ten years’ experience in the education sector or in a large business, including at least six years in a financial management position
- Knowledge of generally recognized accounting principles and audit file documentation
- Experience in managing human resources and in leading a team
- Experience in short-, medium
- and long-term strategic planning
- Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and negotiation skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to design and implement new work procedures and to come up with innovative solutions
- Excellent ability to analyze, summarize and solve complex problems
- Organizational skills including the ability to properly manage own time, complete several simultaneous tasks and meet firm deadlines
- Knowledge of, and experience in, creating financial forecasts
- Bilingualism (spoken and written)
