Department Overview

The Associate Vice President of Indigenous Banking is responsible for maximizing Business Results and supporting the VP, Indigenous Banking in establishing the business strategy to grow the Banks’ market share and revenue base through the acquisition and retention of profitable Indigenous government and business clients. He/she acts as an industry resource and provides support and coaching to Regional Managers, Commercial Units and other partners to build relationships with the Indigenous Community.

Associate Vice Presidents (AVPs) at TD Bank Group contribute to the overall reputation of TD. As executives, AVPs help to set the ethical, organizational and performance standard for the teams they lead and exemplify how an effective performance and development culture functions day to day. An AVP is expected to guide his/her team, collaborating as appropriate with TD partners, to deliver superior results in both the short and long term.

AVPs promote adherence to TDBG’s vision and purpose to be the better bank, and to enrich the lives of customers, communities and colleagues. As part of the general management of their function, AVPs are accountable to deliver against TD’s five shared commitments:

Job Details
- Supports the VP, Indigenous Banking to define and deliver the national and regional strategies within the Indigenous communities across Canada
- Lead Regional Managers for targeted regions to maximize business results and execute the business strategy to grow the Banks’ market share and volume through: new client acquisition; and retention and growing existing client business
- Deliver a superior customer experience, drive profitable business growth.
- Work collaboratively with Commercial Credit Policy Team, Retail Credit Policy Team and other key stakeholders to: develop products; and build and improve policies/guidelines for Indigenous communities and businesses
- Work collaboratively with the CBCs to develop a pipeline that supports the strategy and provide ongoing support with existing clients, prospects and COIs
- Represent Indigenous Peoples on various working groups for TDBG.
- Leverage relationships external partners and work closely with regional managers.
- Be visible in the Indigenous communities nationally and develop key relationships with COIs including, but not limited to, lawyers, accountants, consultants, federal and provincial government employees
- Maintain a deep knowledge of national and regional markets by focusing on new government funding programs, new business ventures and partnerships, settled claims, impact benefit agreements, changes in the law and how it impacts the Indigenous portfolio; and understand trends to support the build out of the strategy with the focus to grow market share.

Job Requirements
- Strong people manager with demonstrated experience in leading high performing teams.
- History of making an impact, developing and executing on strategies and delivering superior results in both the short and long term.
- Demonstrated relationship building skills, with a superior ability to make things happen through the use of positive influence.
- Strong financial management skills and fluency with all the financial aspects of managing a large book of business.
- Expertise in commercial credit and developing relationships in a market.
- Powerful communicator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employees.
- Robust organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Experience and demonstrated ability in business development and relationship management of clients with complex credit needs.
- Results oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Successful people management experience including effective coaching, aligning teams to your strategy, supporting career development of your staff.

Additional Information

**Specific Educational Requirements/Other Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business / Commerce.
- Prior experience in Business Banking and/or Risk Management is required.
